In pencil in the left margin is written "A. Ortelius - Marchetti 1598 8-04 LXX" perhaps alluding to the source of the map. Most likely from: Ortelius, Abraham. Il theatro del mondo di Abraamo Ortelio, nel quale distintamente si dimostrano in tavole tutte le provincie, regni e paesi del mondo, ... Con la descrittione delle citta, castelli, monti, mari, laghi e fiumi di essi ... Ridotto dalla forma grande in questa piccola. In Brescia: appresso la Compagnia Bresciana, 1598.
