Pre-lnaugural Flight,
Canadian Pacific Air Lines Service
Vancouver, B. C. to Sydney, Australia.
JULY 10th to JULY 20th, 1949
 Canadian Pacific Air Lines bid you warm welcome aboard the
Empress of Sydney on this historic flight to Sydney
by way of Hawaii, Canton Island, and the Fiji Islands. Canadian Pacific,
whose domestic lines in Canada extend to the shores of
the Arctic, is proud to now expand its services from the Northern
Lights to the Southern Cross
drawing the peoples of Canada and the rest of North America
closer to their good neighbors and friends in Australia.

of Commerce at John  Rodgers  Field.

Monday, July 11th:
Luncheon at Oahu Country Club, by Directors of Honolulu Chamber of
Commerce—12.00  noon.
President's Reception and Cocktail Party at "House Without a Key",
Halekulani  Hotel—5.00  p.m.  to 7.00 p.m.
Tuesday, July 12th:
Depart Honolulu—08.00.
(Canton   Island   fuel   stop) .
Cross International Date Line—One Day Lost.

Monday, July  18th:
Arrive Fiji—07.30.
Breakfast, Nadi Airport. Drive to Suva (135 miles
across the  Island.)
President's Reception in afternoon at Suva to meet
British Governor of Fiji.
Overnight at Grande Pacific Hotel, Suva.
Tuesday, July   19th:
Return to Nadi Airport by Car.
Depart Fiji—12.00.
(Via Canton Island.)
Cross International Date Line—One Day Gained.
Arrive Honolulu—02.30.

The Empress of Sydney is one of a fleet of four Canadian-bu'lt Canadair
Four's assigned to the new Pacific service of Canadian Pacific Lines.
This  aircraft   is   powered   with   four   British-made   Rolls-Royce   Merl'n   engines
each   producing   1750   horsepower.      The   cabin   is   designed   for
maximum comfort, having 36 luxurious reclining "Loungeaire" chairs.
The   cabin   is   pressurized   and   air-conditioned   for   comfortable,
smooth high altitude flying.
Maximum gross weight of the aircraft  is 80,200  lbs.  with  a  disposable
load of 31,800  lbs.     The wing span  is  1 17  feet six inches and overall
length is 93 feet seven inches.    The fuel capacity is 3,326
Imperial   gallons    (24,100   lbs.).
