This total is for 17 permits issued so far and with the known number of handsome new homes which are now being planned and on which construction is to be commenced shortly, the May figures promise to be quite imposing, according to the municipal building inspector. C. Sugar Refining Company on the latter's . roperty at the corner of Powell and Rogers streets. The new .station at Marpole is intended to supply increased accommodation for the growing passenger trade handled in that district. It will be of frame construction and wilV cost about ;fl0,000. Work is to be commenced soon, the company's men doing practical all the work. The new station will contain besides the usual1 waiting rooms and ticket offices, a cigar and news stand, a show room for electrical goods and quarters for the station crew. A permit has already been taken out at the city building inspector's- office for the erection of the new transformer station for the B..C. Sugar Refinery which the B. C. Electric is to build and will afterwards, probably in- stal the necessary electrical equipment in the way of transformers which will "step down" the 11,000 volt supply of current which the sugar refinery has contracted for to the lower commercial voltages at which it will be used. The structure will be one story in height, built of reinforced concrete and tile and will cost close to $3,000. Work is to be started on this at once. GOVERNMENT VOTES FOR ROAD WORK IN B. C.
