In the case of some .of,. the bridges these stresses were not calculated for to the extent of tho vibration which a speedy motor car causes. eneral | and architectural circles that no Pacific coast architects have been in vited to send in competitive plans for the proposed war memorial museum at Regina, which is to be erected by the Sskatchewan government, i The list of competitors as invited by j jfon. More and more do the indications from recent developments, pointr to j are the fact that costs in the building- and associated trades are not going MINING to drop to pre-war levels—for a long) time anyway. The sooner that fact j is grasped, the sooner-will more logical methods of cuttings costs than progressive and up-to-date methods, which gradually are turning the tide. Contractors and architects, too, are finding that it is possible to save on labor, on -materials, on equipment, and to do so not by sacrificing quality, but by eliminating waste. Many' a country, house in the halcyon days of yore was, like Topsy; not built up logically, but just growed; Yes, in many cases it grew without plan, without thought as to economy of labor, of material, of anything. And as it grew, it evinced an enormous appetite—an appetite that swallowed excess over estimate entirely regardless of cost. So don't follow a policy of watchful -waiting-, a waiting that is sure' to bring vain regrets. Jump into the i fray now and cut costs by eliminating waste. You can do it. Others —why not you? A tunnel has been driven from which there is'* a raise to the ore bodies and the management is discussing the installation of a concentration mill. The mill also is to be started on the Cork-Province near Kaslo. The Florence Silver Mining company has been operating its mill at capac ity for several weeks and at less than capacity for months before. Silver bearing ore is being drawn from a number of its properties by the Consolidated Mining and Smelting company. It is expected that the mill of the Silversmith Mines soon wil resume operations, it being reported that development has resulted in the proving of a large body of good ore. dwelling, addition, dwelling, (Z:>0 A uSO ■nm addition," 4'>2-\ i dwelling. drew G. .
