HARRISON & LAMOND'GET  "     $55,000 PAVING AWARD  The Provincial Public Works Department has awarded the contract for  the paving of No. .5 Road leading out  to Woodward's Landing, to the firm of  Harrison & Lammond, 501 Pacific  Building, Vancouver.. The distance to  be paved amounts to 1.90 miles and  the cost,'according to the terms of the  contract, will involve an outlay .to the  government-of about $55,0.00.  It is expected that as soon as the  present contract is completed on No.  5 Road that a contract will be let for  the intervening space to No. 9 Road.  Tlfis will assure a completely paved  highway aH the way from Woodward's  Landing to Vancouver. This will not  only prove one of the most popular  driveways on the lower Mainland but  will also greatly facilitate the quick  transport of produce from tlie fertile  tributary south of Ladner.  Messrs. Harrjson & Lammond intend to rush work on the paving of  this section so as to take advantage of  the fine weather and also to be in a  position to handle further contemplated road contracts. A banquet was held in  the evening at which' interesting  speeches marked the toast list. •  A business session was held on Tuesday morning and the afternoon was  devoted to a boat trip up the Inlet to  Wigwam Inn and in the evening a dinner and cabaret entertainment was  held in the ball -room of the Hotel  Vancouver at which special electrical  effects and a wealth of excellent talent  helped to make the closing event of  the convention a really notable one. In addition to Mayor Porter, City Engineer  F. M. Preston and other city officials,  there were present Grant Hall -and D.  C. , Coleman, vice-presidents of the  C.P.R., and E. H. Beasley, vice-president of the E.'& N. Railway.  Arrangements were made to expe-J  dite as far.as possible the' ratification  of the plans and specifications for the  bridge by* the Dominion government  and the Dominion board of railway  commissioners. As soon as these formalities are completed, and with all  other parties concerned united in endorsing'the details, i* is expected that  the approval will be made this month  and thus allow tenders to be called for  the sub-structure of the bridge during  the latter part of June or early in  July at the latest.
