WEI NT-SPA ?, JILY 13, 1904.  5 c. per M^nth,  i"  Is Taken through the  Helen.  The News reporter went through the  Helen mine last week on Friday moaning.  The shaft goes down about fifty feet  at a steep incline into the hill. This is  in ore all the waj-. Several short drifts  1 ave been run in ore at intervals down  the shaft. At the bottom of this shaft  a drift runs about twenty feet to the  south. A hole was sunk in the end of  this drift a d it was here that the lead  was lost.  A new tunnel wasru.. fro_i the bottom of the shaft east and at the end of  thirty feet the big strike of June 8th  was made. Here the lead was stronger  and richer than ever before. The  shaft is at present being sunk at the  end of this drift.  Put in lately at Mother  Lode--New Skipr.  At the Mother Lode the new safety  track has just been finished. It runs  up a ten per cent grade for a distanee  of about 75 feet. Should a car or cars  get away on the loading track they will  run up this grade, and. after stopping,  run back. Formerly any car that got  aw-jt-y would jump the track at the old  sifety switch. This will save much  time. The bolts are be ng tightened on th������-  C. P. R's. trestle in Anaconda. Holes  have been made in the sides of the r o -  ing and a movable platform 'suspei.de.ci  below the floor of the bridge. On this  platform three men are seated. Av< r  heavy wrench is placed upon the nut  and is held in place by a bet.ni tied to  the stringer above. Seven men are  seated on the ground opposite and pi 11  a rope running through a block and  connected with the end of the wrench.  This tightens the bolt.
