RAILROAD TENDERS TO BE
CALLED FOR THIS MONTH
The Dominion government will call
for tenders this month for the const,
of the rirst 120 miles of the Hudson
Hay railway. Parliament appropriated
$2,000,000fes a starter for the work.
FOUNDATION CONTRACT LET
The contract for the reinforced
cone, foundation for the C-sts., mill
const, bldg. to be erected in the 400
block, Hastings St., for II. S. Rowling,

FISH   MARKET  CONTRACT
The contract for the new fish market to be operated in connection with
the city mnrket was awarded by the

WANT MINING SCHOOL
NKI.SON. II. V.���The Hoard of Trade
and School Hoard are making an effort to have a mining school established here. The necessary bldg., beyond
high school requirements, would cost

MUNICIPALITY WANTS ENGINEER.
The municipality of Hurnaby Is advertising for applications for a qualified engineer to take charge of the
road and bylaw work, under supervision of the municipal engineer.

that he has been requested to ask the
municipal authorities to offer the portion of the present wharf tor. sale to
the Dominion government for $2,500,
after which the government would
take definite action in regard to the
conBt. of a new wharf.
ENGINEER  RECOMMENDS
IMPROVEMENTS FOR $141,000
COQUILTAM���The city engineer's
report on roadway Improvements recommended expenditures totalling
$141,000 as follows: $79,000 on the
eastern section, including the Port
Moody road, and $62,000 on the western section. The following roads were
embraced In his estimates and report:
Pipe Line road, 51 stations, Port
Moody 96, Pitt River west 62, Pitt
River east 90, McLean 48, School 35,
Flint IS, Prairie 34, North Pitt Meadows 97, Ines 15, Oliver 63, Johnson 26,
Brunette 4S, Austin 126, Marmont 37,
Smith 51, North 47. Clark 60, Lake
Como 135, Blue .Mountain 104; a total
of 16 miles. The engineer was authorized to call for tenders for all or any of
these roads.
