A Spanish voyage to Vancouver and the north-west coast of America, being the narrative of the voyage made in the year 1792 by the schooners Sutil and Mexicana to explore the Strait of Fuca Espinosa y Tello, Josef, 1763-1815

Description

"Binder's title: A Spanish expedition to North-West America in I792. Edition limited to 525 copies. Translation by G.F. Barwick, then Keeper of the Printed Books in the British Museum, in 1911. Navarrete's introduction has been condensed to 6 pages, so that a great deal of information on the earlier voyages is not available to the user of this edition. Varies in some particulars from the version published by Wagner in his Spanish explorations in the Strait of Juan de Fuca (no.599) which also contains fuller background information and explanatory notes."-- Strathern, G. M., & Edwards, M. H. (1970). Navigations, traffiques & discoveries, 1774-1848: A guide to publications relating to the area now British Columbia. Victoria, BC: University of Victoria, p. 86.
