Simulation of baggage handling at Vancouver International Airport Elliott, Martin Lloyd
Abstract
This thesis details a simulation study of the domestic deplaning passenger and baggage subsystem at Vancouver International Airport The present and future baggage systems are described and modeled and the model is then validated. The capacity of the baggage claim area is estimated. The use of this simulation model as a tool for inexpensively investigating the effect of different flight schedules on queues in the baggage claim area is demonstrated. The simple alterations necessary to apply this model to different airports are also described.
