Measurement of the total cross section for the π - 2π reaction p(π⁺, π⁺ π⁰)p near threshold Suen, Nelson

Abstract

A feasibility study for measuring the total cross section of the π - 2π reaction, π⁺p → π⁺π⁰p, was performed at incident pion kinetic energies of 195 and 201 MeV. It was not possible to measure the total cross section with the present apparatus. Modifications and improvements to the present apparatus are presented.
