Induced sprays on implicitly defined submanifolds of riemannian manifolds Fournier, David Anthony
Abstract
In this thesis we consider a submanifold M of a Riemannian manifold R where M is given as the intersection of level sets of C[symbol omitted] real valued functions defined on R. For a fixed point x in M we construct diffeomorphisms Sx:TMx→M where TMx is the tangent space of M at x. In particular, we determine the Taylor expansion of Sx at 0 in TMx in terms of the Riemannian structure of R and the defining equations of M.
