An investigation of the efficiency of dimethyl sulphate as a methylating agent for carbohydrates Glennie, Douglas William

Abstract

Dimethyl sulphate has been used for carbohydrate methylation under various conditions of concentration, time and alkalinity in order to determine optimum reaction conditions. Mesquite gum was used as a representative water-soluble polysaccharide.
