Haptic Design : Composing Perception in Seaforth Peace Park Li, Ho Lok Klaus

Abstract

Landscape architecture has long been dominated by the visual—picturesque compositions, geometric precision, and aesthetic order—while the embodied ways we experience space remain overlooked. Haptic Design is a design framework that challenges this norm, proposing a radical shift towards touch and movement as primary design tools. Through haptic notation and sensory prototyping, this project explores how textured ground surfaces, spatial rhythms, and interactive materials can reshape perception. This project aims to reshape how we design and see public spaces, urging landscape architects to rethink design approach in a human- centered, experiential way.
