Cache Creek, As Constructed Ranta, Richard

Abstract

The truth is stranger than fiction. This axiom defines the small community of Cache Creek, B.C., where coincidental and contradictory forces have shaped the town’s architecture, culture, and environments in unusual ways. The resulting entanglements of spatial phenomena in Cache Creek, ranging from intricate neon signs, to UFOs and garbage-based rituals, colour one’s experiences there with a skewed sense of reality. Using found 35mm slide film photos, "Cache Creek, As Constructed" traces the histories of these spatial phenomena through personal and official narratives.
