Incorporating agricultural literacy in Food Studies curriculum Parnetta, AnnaLee

Abstract

I ask the question why agriculture and agricultural literacy are not used more within the teaching of Food Studies curricula. In my project I articulate the concept of agriculture literacy and why it should be an important aspect of education in general, and food studies/home economics in particular. I then created a series of lesson plans to illustrate how food and agricultural topics can be systematically incorporated into current existing Food Studies curriculum with examples designed for Saskatchewan’s Practical and Applied Arts Food Studies 10/30 Curriculum.
