Struggling with the imperfect : exploring the autobiographic texts of a teacher Niessen, Anna

Abstract

Life experiences have so much influence on teachers’ values and beliefs about education. This is the story of how personal experiences have influenced the development of a home economics teacher. It is a self study written in narrative style, inquiring into Parker Palmer’s (2007) comment, “We teach who we are”, stressing the importance of teachers exploring their inner lives, and the immense effects on classroom practice.
