UBC Graduate Research

my architecture is love Moses, Alexander

Abstract

This project explores love in the built environment and the stories that come out of designing for love. Looking to explore a topic and a feeling not within the typical architectural canon, this project uses feminist theory and Indigenous knowledge to bridge the gap between love and architecture. This includes looking at larger ideas of care, and understanding storytelling and oral history as a way to express architecture. Through explorations of my own lived experience, precedents, and process work, I explore and look for ways to make the world around me more loving. This starts of as small and quick interventions, and then unfolds to larger more dramatic interventions taking place around the setting of my everyday life here on UBC’s Vancouver campus.
