Sustainable Aging Society : A Landscape Study of Global Demographic Change Wenting, Yang

Abstract

Population aging provides challenges and opportunities for societies and landscape architecture all over the world. By analyzing a scenario of an aging society, landscape architects can find new theoretical and practical approaches to develop a sustainable landscape community design which can help seniors living in urbanized cities. Many cities have started to plan and develop a dementia-friendly society; therefore, aging-friendly design will be a trend in the future. This design trend encourages landscape architects to broaden their design lens to include design of senior friendly cities. This thesis aims to create a new typology of landscape design for ageing societies, to provide accessible and friendly communities for all ages of people.
