Baseline Report on Injuries 2005 Smith, Dorry; Pike, Ian

Abstract

The information presented in this report provides a review of baseline injury data among residents in the Northern Health (NH). This report is meant to draw together data from mortality and hospital separation datasets in order to (a) describe the injury trends and patterns in Northern Health; (b) compare injury rates in Northern Health with the injury rates of British Columbia (BC); (c) describe the leading causes of injury mortality and hospital separation among residents of Northern Health; (d) provide recommendations based on current research and programming relevant to the leading causes of injury; (e) synthesize and report on key points and next steps that were discussed at the Northern Health Strategic Planning Meeting held on Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Prince George, BC.
