Nursing Research and Teaching Scholarship : 2012/13 to 2014/15 Research Report Saewyc, Elizabeth Marie; Hughes, Merrilee A.; McDougall, Jennifer

Abstract

Between 2012/13 and 2014/15, the UBC School of Nursing has secured growing research funds in a competitive funding environment. Combined with a reduction in the number of tenure-track faculty during that period, achieving this level of research funding demonstrates significant productivity. Over the three-year period, UBC Nursing faculty secured $14.5 million as principal investigators with an additional $43 million in research funding awarded to research teams with UBC Nursing faculty members as co-applicants. From 2012 to 2014, 256 peer-reviewed journal articles were published by tenure track faculty with 49% of these co-authored with student trainees. Throughout the report, we use both quantitative metrics and narrative examples to illustrate the calibre of research being conducted at the UBC School of Nursing.
