The assessment of the reliability of potentially deteriorated reinforced concrete elements with Bayesian networks Hackl, Jürgen; Köhler, Jochen
Abstract
The concrete deterioration caused by corrosion is a complex physical, chemical and mechanical process. The modeling of this process is subjected to significant uncertainties, which are based on a simplistic model representation of the actual physical process and limited information on material, environmental and loading characteristics. The present work proposes a generic framework for the estimation of structural reliability of a potentially corroded reinforced concrete element. This framework combines structural reliability analysis and Bayesian networks. Thereby uncertainties by model parameters, but also additional information, provided by measurements, monitoring and inspection results, are considered.
