It is understood that a proposal has been made to have the Trail smelter men go back to work pending investigation of their claims for an eight- hour day. Every effort is being made to reach a satisfactory conclusion acceptable to the men, who seek shorter working hours such as enjoyed at Grand Forks and Greenwood, and the company which is relying upon an unterminated agreement. Should the Trail difficulties he settled at once so that- smelter production can be resumed there, it is believed that the 1917 mineral production of British Columbia will be practically forty millions. The total value of the mineral production In 1910 was $2G,;J77,060, and in 191f> $29,447,508. I*st year's, as stated, went to approximately $42,300,- 000. and operation of the property. A large compressor plant has been purchased by the company and future development will be carried on by air drills, which will materially assist in making the task as easy as modern methods permit. The ore in the Victor mine is an unusually high grade silver and is generally conceded to be exceptionally promising. Heavy shipments are being looked for and when the mine is under full swing there are expectations of its being one of the leading ore shipping points in the district, high-grade ore wil be made.
