They have thus far defeated all comers and the boys are prepared to meet all who desire to come. , Last Saturday and Sunday the locals went up against the best in the Bulkley Valley when they met and defeated the boys from Telkwa in two very interesting although one-sided games. A large crowd witnessed both games and the rooters for both teams did their utmost to help their favorites along. The visit- | ors came down with the intention of taking the first game at least and so confident were they and their supporters that they could figure out a win that they backed the team with a couple of thousand dollars. Hazelton supporters, however were not at all | slow in picking up all the easy money that was offered. The game Saturday afternoon was by far the more interesting from a spectators point of view and it was also the better game. j The battery for the visitors got off to a bad start. Tholman was in the box and he was touched up for seven runs. In the third inning he was replaced by Sweeney who pitched fine bail for four innings then the locals found him and got seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings. In the second innings, Davy, the catcher for the visitors was injured and he was replaced by Farro who put up a good game behind the bat. For Hazelton Muckleston played great ball. The visitors could not hit him to any extent and in several instances when it looked bad for the home boys Muckleston saved the game by good pitching and by catching three men running to first. Riley behind the bat was there all the the time and was a good general for the rest of the team. The boys all played their positions well and they are a credit to this isolated district. The line-up was as follows: Lots in Telkwa $300.00 up And many other promising investments in land and mining. The game was not as good as the day before and not so interesting for the spectators. The score was one-sided. The locals got 13 runs in the first two innings off Tholman. He was then replaced by Sweeney who held the boys down very well until the last two innings. For Hazelton the line-up was the same except that Trimble was in the box and Muckleston took his place in the field. Trimble pitched a good steady game all through. FIRST AND FOREMOST WE believe that the stock will steadily advance on the true merit of the properties. Secondly, we believe in the management of the company, and further that the safety of the investors' money is absolutely assured. We believe furthermore that there is great value in the property holdings far and above the present selling price of stock. It is with all these facts in mind that we recommend investment in Omineca Mines Limited. Believing that this enterprise, consisting of a big mining property systematically developed, the management by reliable business men, assuring a clean business administration, offer an opportunity for extraordinary profits to everyone who wishes to share in the benefits derived from a successful and energetic development of a big mining property. And Omineca Mines Limited is fast proving to be a big mining property. Read the report of the noted mining expert, Mr. R. C. Campbell- Johnson, published in the Omineca Herald of June 24th. Visit the properties and see for yourselves. Call on us and let us show you some of the ore and tell you about it. But above all, BUY OMINECA STOCK. Don't hesitate. Do it now. Looking ahead we venture the opinion that Omineea Mines will sell for many times the present price of shares. Our predictions are based upon sound estimates of what may reasonably be expected from a liberal development of the Omineca Mines ore bodies. Be one of the early purchasers and secure the maximum of profit Positively no more than 100,000 shares will be sold at 10 CENTS PER SHARE. Thereafter the sale of treasury shares will either be withdrawn or the stock advanced to a price consistent with the development of the property. The shares are going fast, buy now before the price increases. Terms of purchase are cash or one quarter cash with order and balance in three equal monthly payments. Big Land Suit Against The Dominion Government is Entered One of the biggest lawsuits entered in Canada will be begun shortly with the Dominion Gov- j ernment as defendant, and thei contractors of the national transcontinental railway as the plaintiffs. The amount involves totals about $700,000, and the issue is as to the proper amount the government should pay for the work done by the contractors on the national line from Moncton to Winnipeg. Some months ago a board of arbitrators gave a decision which deducted the above amount from the total claimed by the contractors. The contractors are not satisfied and will endeavor to get the courts to alter that decision. Mr. E. L. THE OMINECA HERALD, SATURDAY, JULY 22, 1911 IMMENSE ACREAGE BURNED RUSH FIRES ALONO THE SKEENA ARH SPREADING nifjht there is little prospect of the Redistribution Bill beinjr brought in this session. Sir Sidney Fisher told the House that final figures of the census would not be available before October. LAND NOTICES Most of the Country was Burned Over Years Ago and Present Fires will Benefit Bush fires are still raging and are spreading all over the country in the neighborhood of Lome Creek, Meanskinisht, Kitwangar. It was first started on Anderson's island, but since new fires have broken out and the flames are raging on both sides of the river. Thousands of acres are burning and have been burned. It is fortunate that there have been no heavy winds as there is so much country in flames now that it would be impossible to check it, and there is no telling where it would stop. To date there has not been very ' much serious damage done, as most of the country affected was burned over some twenty years ago, and it has since grown up with small stuff and underbrush which has made it very difficult for prospecting. If the fire does not get away into the good timber it will do more good than harm. The Port Simpson was inconvenienced somewhat on her trip up this time on account of smoke and Captain Bucey says that several times he thought he would j have to tie up, as he was coming ; through the fire swept country late in the night. He managed, however, to make the grade. He says that when he went clown earlier in the week the fire was ] not very bad, but that it had spread very rapidly during the1 past few days. How it started he could not say. In one place a whole mountain side was in flames. So far as any of the settlements were concerned he said that there was no danger as, the fire could not reach them. In Hazelton the reflection from j the fires was very distinct nights and on Thursday night a pall of smoke hung over the mountains around the town. The telegraph wires were down for a short time on Wednesday, but there was no particular interruption in the service. On the whole it will be a good thing for the country. New Triel Refused Seattle, July 20- Former Chief Wappenstein. who was sentenced to len yeafs for accepting a bribe of $101)0 to allow houses to operate in the restricted district, was refused a new trial. His appeal now goes to the Supreme Court. Secret Correspondence Lisbon, July 20- There is great sensation throughout the kingdom caused by the announcement of the discovery of a small coffer containing secret correspondence between the deposed royal family and the British and German governments. King Manuel, foreseeing the late revolution, asked for foreign intervention, and offered in compensation Portuguese territory in Africa. Great Britain refused to interfere. Uprising in Rhodesia Livingstone, Rhodesia, July 21 -In the German district, Commander Frankenburg, two white sergeants, fourteen blacks and twenty carriers were mc.ssacred by the Okarango tribe of Bech- uanaland. This occurred en British territory, and the incident will no doubt add to the complexity of the international complications which now prevail. Wales Ports to be Closed Cardiff, Wales, July 21 -At a meeting of all classes of workers it was resolved to seal up this port until the shipowners recognize the Seamen's Unicn. Coal trimmers and other workmen have quit work and business is paralyzed. The seamen refuse to sign an agreement even at an advanced rate. (ias Heater Exploded Brockville, July 20 W. H. Comstock, ex-M.P., was fatally injured by the explosion of a gas heater at his residence todav. News by Wire j Building Canadian Northern Spokane, July 20-Patrick Welsh and his associates were today awarded the contract for the construction of 551 miles of the Canadian Northern Railway between Port Arthur and Sudbury, Ont., for $12,000,000. The contract is to be completed by October, 191h. New Peers are Ready London, July 21 It is unofficially learned that the list of new peers whose creation is intended to force the Veto Bill through the House of Lords has been completed. There are three hundred names on the list, and the way each will vote has been fully ascertained. Carpenter's Strike Over Vancouver, July 20-The Carpenter's strike which was started on June 5th came to an end today. The union men voted to go back to work on the terms offered by the contractors, viz: $4.25 a day with closed shops. No Redistribution Hill Ottawa, July 20- In view of a statement made in the House to- Canadians Are Leading Bisley Camp, July 21 Corporal Trainor of the Royal Canadian Regiment, Toronto, won the first stage I'or the King's prize. Thirteen Canadians qualified for the second stage. Last year twenty-two qualified for the second stage. This confirms the impression that the shooting is not up to the reputation of recent years. The aggregate of all three stages count in deciding the winner of the King's prize, so far the Canadians lead with Trainor winner of the first stage.
