The adjourned meeting to receive the report of the citizens' committee with reference to the proposal of the Vancouver Power Company to raise their dam GO feet for power purposes was he.ld ln St. George's hall last evening. There was a good attendance, including more representative citizens than have attended previous meetings <^i this subject. After a lengthy discussion the report was adopted by a large majority. The Chairman. D. is. Curtis waa voted to the chair. In. op.ning the proceedings Mr. Curtis said that they all, the City Council included*, knew more of the proposal than they did two weeks back. The two reports of Messrs. The mllltlament ordered by Governor Haskell as a realt of the uprising that came after a clash at the home of Crazy Snake, in which Mat- shall Baum and Deputy Sheriff Odell were killed, were camped for the night at Hickory Hills, the camp which had been hastily evacuated iby Crazy Snake at their appearance. At break ot : day they moved forward to give bat- ! tie to the redskins. Meanwhile the chief, through the*, agency of his sleepless scouts, had been watching every movement and he led his forces away apparently j not daring, or at 'east not caring, to fight the white foes In the open, 'tne j militiamen at this juncture pushed i forward at double quick. The Indians were 10 miles awn\\ from tlu'in. Tbey wer.- determined that they should not be allowed to choose the battle ground and thus gain un advantage. The troops outnumbered the Indians three to one and the officers ^knew that could the opposing forces meet in the open there could only be one outcomethe Indians would have to surrender or be killed.
