Lindmark Broken into last Night This city had another burglary last night, the butcher shop ol C. F. Lindmark being broken into ind a bicycle, a Watch, a Mauser revolver, a number of cartridges an*d about i'2 in stamps stolen. Entrance was gained to the st*>rc by a side window in the rear of the building, while to gain an entrance to the front shop and office, the perpetrator of the -deed sawe*- a ii,imre hole through the intervening door, thereby removing the lntch. The to0lB used were a bit and o keyhole saw. Every drawer in the otfiie desk had been rifled, but the safe in which the cash and valuaM? Papers are kept was untouched, the burglar ap- paiently not having the necessary tools for opening that. The police are working on the case and it is auite probable the miscreant will be captured, as so far lhe local force has succeeded with unerring accuracy in locating their quarry. As will be seen in another column Collier the man upon whom suspicion fastens itself as being the man who broke into Alex Hobson's store last week was given five months in Kamloops. Attempts were alsc made to break into the drug store of C. R. Ma«loii- ald and the barber shop of Hoy McDonald. At ;hc former place the side door was purtlj broken away, but the miscreants were evidently frig-htened away iy the barking of dogs in ihe store :>efore the heavy iron bolt could i e irawn. He had come from California and bad worked in camps and on railroads, and the usual difficulties' whicli hoboes and criminals conjure up for times of emergen, y were recited over and over again. But it was no go this time as the court was absolutely certain that he was a ''bad one" and would not w0rk if he was let out. "If you can fix it up some way so that I can pay my fine when I get to work at a Job I have promised mo Monday, I will be much obliged," Ire pleaded of the magistrate. But the court was obdurate nnd sentenced him without the option of a fine to five months in Kamloops jail. ' He will only be doing his duty. He will bc working lor the government, and wants to kno'v all about you. The government intends to take a very special ctnsus ol thc people of the Dominion this year, and in addition to counting them wants to all about them. Here are some of the questions the census man will ask you:— Are you blind deal or dumb.' Are you crazy, lunatic, idot or silly? Are you insured, and if so, in what . ompany? Can you read and write? It so, where were you t alight? What was the cjst of obtaining your education? What is yoi.r age? (Ladies nre not excused from answering this question) Are you a colored person? How much money are you worth? The questions which tbt enumerator will have to ask are classified under a numlier of different sections. The first and most important is the population, and under this section comes age, color and how much you are worth. The next deals with morality, disability, and compensation, while Sections 5 and 6 aie for statistics relating to the seed and fruit crops of 1910 and the number of animals raised during a given number of years. Section No. 7 seeks information for all kinds of farm statistics and Nn.S under the forestry department, asks for the kind and quality of trees raised and their value in dollars enl cents. Another sectkn deals with 'actu'y statistics, and the questions under this i.>ad include the money invested the values of mu i. buildings aid plants, the number of employees and the number ol working hours each day, an.l thc size ol the pay rolls. The heads ol churches, colloges, public and private schools will bc required to answer a long list ol questions, and under another section, information pertaining to fisheries is sought. The government also wishes to get statistics relating to the mining development in the Dominion. Under this I railing managers of the mining compan »s v.ill be required to tell how muib capital is Involved ia their enterprises, .inii how many employees are kept at work and the number of hours they work. ATTEMPT TO HOLD UP THE CENTRAL HOTEL BUS Man With Revolver Orders the Driver to Throw Up His Hands and Stop Rig Was a holdup intended or was it only as a joke that lour men ran out from the sidewalk near Central school on Sunday night, between 11 and i'2 o'clock and at the point of n revolver ordered the driver ol the Central hotel bus to throw up his hands an.l stop his rig? The driver at that time of night was Oscar Abrahamson, the eighteen year-old son of ('has. Abrahamson. On bis way to the station he was driving leisurely along to meet the Incoming midnight train, when suddenly four men sprang from the sidewalk near the Central school nnd one of them with a revolver in bis outstretched hand ordered the driver to throw up his hands and stop the rig. The driver in consternation, dropped thc lines, and thc rush of the men to the horses' beads frightened the animals so that they took to their liecls and made a getaway. No shots were lired, but the driver considered it no pleasant experience to look along the barrel of a shining revolver at that hour of night. The affair may have been intended as a holdup as sometimes thc Central bus carries a large number of guests to the station at that hour of the night, or it. may have been but an attempt to frighten thc driver In cither case the affair would have been none the less serious for the culprits had they been caught.
