P.R. is laying plans for thereconstiuc- tion of that section of the Crow's Nest Pass line between Macleod and the summit of. the Rockies, short distance east of Crows Nest station, the work covering seventy miles. It is expected that the task will be undertaken during the present year and tenders eallsd during February. The aim of the reconstruction is to better many points where the grades are adverse to eastbound traffic. This is rendered necessary by the development of the general east- bound traffic on the line and the growth of the Soo-Spokane business which, it is expected, will be shortly pushed through to the coaat, Another {factor is the development of the Hosmer coal fields as, ir, it expected, the prairies will be a great market for the product of these mines. It is also stated that during February or March a contract will be let for the construction of thirty miles on the line of the Kootenay Central railway from some point on the Crow's Nest line between Cranbrook snd Fernie to a point north aa the initial atop in the construction of this road to the main line at'Golden. It is probable that on Vanconver Island the work of the company for the year will consist of laying steel for the extension from Nanaimo to Alberni, grading on which was started laat year. •••§•••#•••••••••••••••••• ii .........a.:::::::::::::., ^!ff********************** ^eeeeeeeooeooeoeeoeeeoeooe ••••••••••••••••••••a .•eeeeeeeoooeooeeeooeot.. *»••••••••••••••••••••••! r ff tmt—w m •** T ' Hugh Maedonald Barriiter ii Solicitor.
