His visit to Southeast Kootenay is to make a personal investigation as to the wants of the district in the matter of roads, trails a nd bridges A social meeting of the friends of the government was held in Watts Hall during the evening, at which Mr. Green was in at tendance. A number of local speakers called Mr. Green's attention to a number of wants, among which was a suitable government building, a wagon road to the Upper. St. .Marys district. Mr. Green in reply, suggested that the city of Cranbrook unite in building a large and commodious Court House, one suitable for Provincial, judicial and city business. In the matter of road improvements, the committee was assured that a considerable amount of work would lie done in the early spring. The first wedding In the "City of Cranbrook " was solemnized on Wednesday evening of this week at the homeof Mr. and Mrs Joseph Mayeoek, when their daughter Mrs. Mary Flowers was united in marriage to Mr. William O'Hearn of this city. The ceremony was performed at 9 o'clock by the Rev. J. P. West- man in the presence of about 25 guests. Af I er congratulations all wended their way to the dining room where a sumptious wedding dinner was prepnred. After dinner the health of the bride and groom was heartily drank, alt Joined in wishing the bride and groom many years of happy wedded life. The anniversary services In connection with the Methodist Church last Sunday were a success in every respect. Large congregations assembled both morning and evening, at the latter service many could not obtain admittance. The music for the day was of a special order and the audiences were greatly pleased with the anthems antl solos. The financial returns were also very gratifying. Dur- the year the trustees have ex. pended about $800 on improvements and expect to put in new pews at a cost of about 1826, On Sunday they asked for a free will offering of 1500 and when all was counted they found tbat the subscription was in advance of the sum asked for. On Monday evening a Congregational gathering was held when a large audience was la attendance. Reports were received from the various departments, all of which were encouraging, refreshments were nerved, and special music rendered and all present spent a very profitable evening. Rev. J. P. Westman had charge of tbe anniversary services.
