W. CORY,\nDeputy Minister of the Interior\nlation of society.\nWith respect to the discrepancy in\ntbe matter of lands reserved by the\nprovince for pre-emption the Attorney-General said the Hon. W. R.\nKoss had not lied when he said 93,-\n000,000 acres had been set aside. He\nnad himself reiterated the statement\non a subsequent occasion. But it\nhad been erroneously reported that\nhe had said \"surveyed\" whereas lis\nhad used the word \"reserved.\" The\nsurveyor-general had reported 29,-\n000,000 acres as surveyed. Rev. Mr.\nCooke wants to know how the extra\n64,000,000 acres are to be accounted\nfor. \"The 93,000,000 acres under\nreserve for pre-emption are made up\nof areas the extent of which is determined by certain boundaries. The\nevidence given before the commission\nbeing altogether too bulky was not\nprinted.\nThe Attorney-General held the\ncharge that the government had\nfalsified the land maps with the Idea\nof deceiving the public was too ridiculous an assumption to be given\nany credence. The maps had been\nmade from actual instrument surveys\nof qualified land surveyors. To the\ncharge that large areas of land had\nbeen alienated by the government,\nMr. Bowser said that in view of the\nunreliability of Rev.
