SUPERANNUATION REPORT, 1935-36.\nREPORT OP THE BUSINESS DONE IN PURSUANCE OP THE \" SUPERANNUATION\nACT\" AND THE \"CIVIL SERVICE SUPERANNUATION ACT\" DURING THE\nFISCAL YEAR 1935-36.\n\" Superannuation Act.\"\nSection 5.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Contributions were made by Municipal and School Board employees of\n$195,785.20.\nSection 6.\u00E2\u0080\u0094-On March 31st, 1936, 713 Municipal employees and 99 School Board employees\nwere contributing more than 4 per cent.\nSection 9.\u00E2\u0080\u0094There were 13 Municipal employees and 5 School Board employees making\nvoluntary contributions pursuant to this section as at March 31st, 1936.\nSection 10\u00E2\u0080\u0094Investments.\u00E2\u0080\u0094These securities are now treated as the property of the Crown\npursuant to legal opinion of the Attorney-General dated March 4th, 1935.\nSection 11.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Interest was credited at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum on September 30th,\n1935, and March 31st, 1936, on the credit balances of the previous April 1st, 1935, and October\n1st, 1935, respectively.\nSection 12.\u00E2\u0080\u0094A statement of all moneys received and paid out under the provisions of this\nAct and the assets and liabilities appertaining to the granting of superannuation allowances\nunder its provisions is given in Schedule No. 1.\nSection 13.\u00E2\u0080\u0094 (1.) (a.) The sum of $23,915.69 was refunded under sections 18 and 19 to\nemployees of the Cities and Municipalities and School Boards, now operating under the\nprovisions of the Act. Like amounts were transferred from the Cities and Municipalities\nEmployers' Accounts and the School Boards Employers' Accounts to their separate accounts\nin the Special Reserve Fund.\n(3.) The total cash credit balances of certain City, Municipal, and School Board Special\nReserve Accounts amounted to $16,058.79. The cash overdraft in certain City, Municipal,\nand School Board Special Reserve Accounts amounted to $994,083.71.\nSection 14-\u00E2\u0080\u0094Superannuation allowances were granted to 49 Municipal employees and\n14 School Board employees.\nSection 18.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Three Municipal employees died during the year and refunds were made to\ntheir legal representatives.\nSection 19.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Seventy-eight Municipal and 8 School Board employees, on leaving the service\nof their employer, secured a refund of the amount at their credit in the Superannuation Fund.\nSection 20.\u00E2\u0080\u0094One contributor who left the Municipal Service had made voluntary contributions under section 9, and secured a refund of these special contributions.\nSection 20c.\u00E2\u0080\u0094An amount of $554.57 was paid to the Municipal employer pursuant to the\nprovisions of this section.\nSection 20v>.\u00E2\u0080\u0094An amount of $1,417.75 was received from Municipal employees who were\nreappointed to the service of the same employer.\n\" Civil Service Superannuation Act.\"\nSections 6 and 9.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Contributions were made by the employees of the British Columbia\nGovernment of $287,960.36.\nSection 10.\u00E2\u0080\u0094There were 98 contributors making voluntary contributions pursuant to this\nsection as at March 31st, 1936.\nSection 12\u00E2\u0080\u0094Investments.\u00E2\u0080\u0094These securities are now treated as the property of the Crown\npursuant to legal opinion of the Attorney-General dated March 4th, 1935.\nSection 13.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Interest was credited at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum on September 30th,\n1935, and March 31st, 1936, on the credit balances of the previous April 1st, 1935, and October\n1st, 1935, respectively.\nSection 14-\u00E2\u0080\u0094(1.) The cash credit balance of the British Columbia Government Special Reserve Account\namounted to $314,701.43 on March 31st, 1936. Section 15.\u00E2\u0080\u0094An amount of $2,480.62 was received from British Columbia Government\nemployees who were reappointed to the service of the employer.\nSection 16.\u00E2\u0080\u0094A statement of all moneys received and paid out under the provisions of this\nAct and the assets and liabilities appertaining to the granting of superannuation allowances\nunder its provisions is given in Schedule No. 1.\nSection 17.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Superannuation allowances were granted to 19 British Columbia Government\nemployees.\nSection 22.\u00E2\u0080\u0094Six British Columbia Government employees died during the year and refunds\nwere made to their legal representatives.\nSection 23.\u00E2\u0080\u0094One hundred and twenty-seven contributors, on leaving the Government\nService, secured refunds of the amounts standing at their credit.
