The conn\ntry in every direction is of such a character as to make railway construction\nExceedingly expensive, and therefore\nthe company cannot afford to make\nany mistakes, It is expected lhat during the incoming spring and summer\nsueli definite information will Ihi received as will enable the conipany to\nlake decided aulioii in the matter, and\nhave nil its plans matured for proceeding with the work at lhe earliest possihle moment. Tlie conipany has laken\nmeans to ascertain the possibilities for\ntraffic, and having satisfied iUelf upon\nthis poinl, there is every reason now\nfor the belief that in the course of two\nor three years at the furthest a line of\nrailroad will be in operation from\nSpence's Bridge in the direction we\nhave indicated. Considerable, however, will depend upon the assistance\nwhich the company may receive in the\nmatter of subsidies.
