The ore exposed\nbeing found to be impregnated\nwith native silver. This interesting\ndiscovery- will be explored at a later\ndate, after the raise has been extended to the surface, which will be\nsome time during April.\n\" From present indications, there\nis no question but that the LaRose\ncontains a considerable body of\nhigh grade ore, and when it is\ntaken into consideration that the\nproperty is only commencing to be\ndeveloped, it is reasonable to expect\nthat a much larger tonnage will be\nproven up as development work is\noarried on.\nThis comparatively easy locating\nof ore, on au undeveloped property\nagain brings out with remarkable\nvividness the rich potential mineral\nwealth of the Alice Arm district,. a\nfact that can not be overlooked by\nthe big men of the continent, and\nthis year will without doubt see a\nbig revival of the mining industry\nin the Alice Arm district.\nTwo Former Residents\nof Alice Arm Die\nIn Rupert\nTwo former residents of Alice\nArm passed away at the Prince\nI, Rupert Hospital on Tuesday.\n\" Charles Street died in the morning. ALICE ARM AND ANYOX HERALD, Saturday, February 6, 1926\nFire Threatened to Wipe\nOut Town of\nStewart\nFire threatened to wipe out the\ntown of Stewart on Monday. As\nit was, damage to the extent of\n$5,000 was done there and it was\nonly the strenuous efforts of the\ncitizens that prevented the blaze\nfrom spreading and possibly consuming the whole town. The fire\napparatus failed at the critical time\nand the townspeople were forced to\nform a bucket brigade to throw\nwater on buildings to prevent them\nigniting from the intense heat.\nThe building that was destroyed\nwas that known as the Northern\nRooms, occupied by Mrs. Kelly\nand with the Good Eats restaurant\nbelow. The place was being overhauled and new people were about\nto take over the restaurant. In\nconnection with the work a tub of\ntar was being heated on the range\nand this caught fire and very soon\nthe whole place was a mass of\nroaring flames.\nIt was at once realized that the\nbuilding could not be saved so\nefforts were centred on preventing\nthe spread of the fire to the liquor\nvendor's store close by and to the\nbuildings across the street. Had\neither of these caught, it is said\nthat the whole town would have\nbeen wiped out of existence.\nThe fire took place shortly after\nnoon on Monday.\nMrs. Kelly suffered a loss amounting to about $2,000 and the\nbuilding and other furnishings\nwould be worth at least another\n$3,000.\nGEOLOGICAL REPORT\nNOW READY\nPop,\" said little Willie, what are\nancestors?\" .\nHis father tried to explain by illustration. \"I am one of your ancestors and your grandpa is\nanother..\"\nWillie pondered the matter over\nfor a minute and then floored his\nfather with this: \"But, Pop why\nfolks brag about them?\"\nA geological map of the Barkerville\narea, Cariboo district, British Columbia, has just been published, It is\nbased on field work done by W.
