The stage is all set for a\nbig expansion of the mining industry and everyone can calmly face\nthe future without apprehension.\nLooking back over the past year\nthe district made considerable headway. The Granby Consolidated\nMining Smelting & Power Co.\ntook over and developed the big\ncopper property adjoining, the\nHidden Creek mine. They also\ndeveloped the Bananza to a point\nwhere it will shortly become a\nproducer. They have operated\nthe big plant at Anyox continuously throughout the year without a mishap, producing millions of\npounds of copper and giving employment to over 1000 men. During the past year the mining\nindustry of Alice Arm has employed more men than at any\ntime since 1920. The advent of\nthe Britannia Mning & Smelting\nCo. Ltd. into the Alice Arm district is conclusive proof that the ore\ndeposits are large and rich enough\nto undertake development work on\na large scale, and its success is not\ndoubted by anyone in the district.\nThe coming year holds promise of\nbeing the banner year, so often\npredicted. Certain it is that the\noutlook was never brighter, or the\nspirits of the people higher, and we\ncan all welcome young 1929\nwithout a qualm as to how it will\ntreat us.\nLiquor Checks Will Shortly\nBe Published\nThe municipalities of B.
