The dog seemed to be in\nacute pain antl howled when lunched. With head and neck stretched\nout almost rigid, Caesar took his\nfood with difficulty, and a swelling\nitt the neck was taken to show\nthe pressure of an abscess in the\nthroat.\nOn being minutely examined no\nwounds or abscesses coultl be\nfound. Hot compresses were Iried.\nwithout avail. Finally Caesar was\nput under the Rontgen rays and\nlhe truth was revealed. Embedded\nhorizontally along the dog's body\nwas a hat pin over twelve inches\nlong. The point was just outside\nthe gullet, the knob at the extremity of the stomach.\nSo extraordinary was the case\nconsidered that it was decided,\ncontrary lo the usual practice of\nthe hospital, to operate. Caesar\nwas given clilorofroni antl the\nhat pin removed successfully.\nCarefully tended, hc i*- now rapidly\nrecovering his health ami spirits\nand is being visited by eminent\nsurgeons, who declare his case to\nbe quite without precedent\nDELICATE PROCESS\nWith Care You Can Recurl an\nOstrich Feather\nTo recurl an ostrich feather\nhave a teakettle full of boiling\nwater antl shake the feather vigorously through the escaping steam\nbeing careful not to get it too\ndamp.
