Steaming at full\nspeed she piled herself up completely driving far up on the reef j\nind sticking firm.\nSignals for Aid Seen\nRockets were sent up and guns\nfired for aid. Heavy surf dashing\nmi the rocks swepi right over the\nwreck. Women and children who\nli.ul rushed up, scanlilv clad, from\nbelow when the vessel struck,\nsuffered greatly from cold and\nexposure. Efforts were made to\nlower the boats and take the\npassengers off, but the first boats\nlaunched swamped and capsized\nin the heavy surf and eight passengers were lost in spile of\nheroic efforts to save them.
