On the contrary we believe\nthat in a mining country, with its\nrush ot business and iis excessive\ntoil, there is every reason from a\npurely physical as well as religious\nBUndpo.nl why the day of rest should\nbe observed. One of the first principles of' OUT I Yeator's law s-viiis to\nbe the law of rest, one seventh ot the\ntime\nWe believe that law to be written\nplainly in every physical constitution\nas well as definitely stated in the\nMosaic Decalogue; and we as (Irmly\nbelieve that in the record of each\nlite in the future unfolded, it will be\nfound that th*' law has been directly\nor indirectly. A word to this government\nand its officials:\nThe Province in which we live\nseems to have earned the proud dis\ntinctiou of being easily the most cor\nrapt and weakest in provincial gov\neminent, of any In our Confederation. I\nCertainly, if its utter disregard tor1\nthe letter or the spirit of the law we\nhave referred to be any criterion it\nhas honestly earned this reputation.\nNot simply in this, however. Almost\nevery law formed upon righteous,\nmoral principles has been ignored or\nits violation winked at.\nIn spite of executive inefficiency\nthe \"laws touching life and property\nhave been, partly by the force of\noverwhelming public sentiment,fairly\nwell enforced bun most other things\nhave been le4.t to take care ot themselves.
