If the credit ami popularity of tint lotitc is to be\nmaintained the steamboat Companies must accommodate themselves to tbe travelling public and not tiico\nversa. The proprietors ofthe Anderson lake bout com-\nplbitt of the opposition nguinst them by the firm of\nWright, Scott, and Nelson, who by putting on a small\nsail-boat and conveying their own freight nntl some\npassengers over the lake are effectual y preventing tbctdn\nfrom realizing any profits, and arc now running at u\nconsiderable loss. Such a sti.t' of flings w 1! ultimately lead to a monopoly of the bike;, by the above-mentioned linn, us the entire trade of tbe route is barely\nsufficient to pay a reasonable rule of interest en the\ngreat amount of capital invested in those steamers.
