Armstrong thought the\nbridge would cost about \u00a71,000,\nand he thought that the Government would accede to his recommendation in the matter. Since\nthai time Mr. Armstrong hns\ncommunicated with the delegation as follows:\n\"Since our interview of lhe\n3rd instant, I have carefully examined the site on which you\nhave asked that a bridge be constructed over Wild Horse Creek.\nI cousider thai it would require\na pile trestle of 250 feet, an approach on the north of 000 feet\nof sidelong road, and on the\nsouth a road close lo the base of\nthe bank for a distance of 2,000\nfeet. Provisions at Dawson are running\nshort, and those who remain\nwithout their own supplies will\nrisk absolute starvation.\nThe Ottawa UiUmt has been\npurchased by Southam of the\nHamilton Spectator.\nMINING NEWS.\nProgress Shown By Development in\nthe Camp.\nTin' tunnel of the Dodo on\nWild Horse is iii 45 feet and the\nshowing of ore is fine, Preparations are now being made to sink\na shaft on the Klondyke an adjoining cluim. Messrs. Starbird\nand Collet! evidently have a rich\nproperty in this group uf claims.\nAmine and VanArsdaleii have\nthe tuiint'l on the Cornucopia\nnuu* driven in In feet, and Win\nBossio who has just returned\nfruiu the claim states that tho\nore is rich looking and abund\nant and the general appear-\nanco magnilicient. The ore body\nis iron sulphursttes carrying\ngold, silver, copper and lead,\nand will be valuable as an ingredient in the smelting of the galena oresof the dislrict. The ore\nbody i.s perhaps the must, extensive in the district,\nHon. Geo E, Poster has purchased two additional claims in\nthe Dibble group, and now owes\nnearly all the claims that surround Dibble's original location.\nNexl spring a large force of men\nwill be put on.\nThe Wasa group of claims on\nWasa Creek, owned by William\nThompson, William Haupt, Pete\nRosendale and Erie Suiidran,htis\nbeen bonded to Henry Croft of\nVictoria for \u00a720,000, cash at the\nend of (il)'days. The bond was\nsigned on Monday last.\nThe Ureal Western mine in\nthe Rossland camp has been sold\nto the C. H. Mcintosh syndicate\nfor \u00a7100,000, of which \u00a725,000 is\ncash, the remainder in January\nnext.\nThe smelter returns of the Le\nRoi show thai the ore irom that\nmine is now averaging 1.54\nounces in gold, about four per\ncent copper and in the neighborhood of three ounces of silver,\nmaking a total value of about\ns-lo. The numerous surface improvements lately undertaken on\ntlm mine are now completed, and\nCaptain Hall, the superintendent, is well satisfied with the\nshape tilings are in. Operations\nhave lately been commenced\nstoping oro at the 100-fool level.\nIn the original development of\nthe mine little attention was paid\nto the ore a! lhis level, and a fine\nreserve remains almost untouched. The west drift at the BOO-\nfoot level is now in about 225\nfeet, antl the ore body, whit i> is\nfrom seven to 18 feet wide, is\nshowing up most favorably.\nStoping will .soon be commenced\nun this level. The Macleod Gazette gives the following\nreport:\n\"Proulx, respondent, v NE\nKeith, appellant.\u2014Proulx represented a number of employees\nwho left the service of Keith,\nand sued in the magistrate's\ncourt for wages alleged to be\ndue, when judgment was given\nin his (Proulx) favor. Keith appealed from this co-eviction.\nThese men had been employed\nunder a contract made between\nthem and the Canadian Pacific\nRailway company in Hull, P.
