Richard Mc-\nBride, leader of the opposition, Joseph\nMartin, leader of the party formerly\nthe opposition, but which voted with\ntie government last session, and\nSmith Curtis, formerly Martin's first\nlieutenant, engaged in what n\u00bb- ly\naveried being a fist fight. It was over\nthe seat in the house usually alloted\nto the leader of the opposition. Mc-\nBride took it when he entered the\nchamber, and when Martin arrived\nthere was a wordy war. McBride held\nthe seat until the chaplain rose to read\nthe prayers. The new leader of the\nopposition rose also, and Martin\nslipped into the chair. Smith .Curtis\nthrew him back, and Martin's followers pprang forward. It came within au\nace of being a fist fight, resulting in a\nwar of words, the discussion lasting all\nthe afternoon. Finally, by motion,\nthe members were ordered to take\ntheir old seats.\nRESIST STUM PAGE CHARGE.\nGreenwood, Feb. 25.\u2014Two interesting test cases will come before Judge\nLeamy today. C. [. Martin, purporting to represent J Murray, provincial\ntimber inspect ir, has made demands\nupon Chinamen selling firewood for\nthe payment of stump age fees and\nthreatening seizure of their cerdwood\nand teams in event of their failing to\nmake payment. The Chinamen have\nbrought action to test the right of the\ngovernment to collect stumpage on\nwood cut on mineral claims. It is\nsignificant that both mining companies and private individuals are protesting against this levying on wood\nand timber cut on mineral claims, but\nthey left it to the Chinamen to resist\npayment and bring action to test the\nvalidity of the impost.\nAs evidence of the' unusual mildness\nof the season, visitors from Boundary\nPalls and Midway state that buttercups are now blooming in those\nplaces.\nTYRANT WEYLER AGAIN.\nLondon, Feb. 25.\u2014It is announced\nin a special dispatch f i.ui Madrid\nthat General Weyler, the war minister, is urging the queen regent to give\nhim a fiee hand in deaiing with \"the\nrebels in Catalona,\" and that Premier\nSagasta threatens to resign if General\nWeyler's request is granted. The\nqueen regent is said to favor General\nWeyler's plan,\npumped enters the slope, and leaks\nthrough the crevices of the rocks near\nthe stoping in the tunnel further reduces this.
