C. Wood. In 1920 the club\nmade its first tour of the province, playing in ten\nprovincial centres. Since that date the tour has been\nan annual event except for about four years. As many\nas twenty-nine interior towns during one tour have\nbeen visited. The Players' Club is the oldest dramatic\norganization to have sustained activity in Canada.\nProfessor Wood founded this dramatic organization\nfor undergraduates at the University primarily as a\ntraining ground in all aspects of theatre. Not only do\nthe students present two major productions each\nacademic year but, under expert direction, they\nreceive instruction to stage design and construction,\nlighting, make-up and costume design as well as\nacting.\nThe members of the club which now has a membership\nof eighty, are particularly aware of their obligation\nto those who attend their productions. They endeavour\nto present plays of a high calibre and over the years\nthere have been many successes. These productions\nand the many others provided the initial training\nground for many of Canada's leading actors and\nactresses,\nIt is hoped TWELFTH NIGHT IN MODEEN DRESS\nwill prove to have been an excellent choice, not only\nfor the performances in the Auditorium, but also for\ntour. Plans are now well in hand for the tour. The\nfollowing places are to be visited: Bralorne, Courtenay,\nKelowna, Lilloet, Lytton, Nelson, Salmon Arm,\nSummerland, Trail and Vernon. It is likely that\ncertain other places will be included on the itinerary.
