When\nberthed elsewhere tariff rate will apply. Servants are required\nto do their sightseeing with their employers or other servants.\nGovernment Revenue Tax, $5 additional for each person.\nTHE FARE INCLUDES\nStateroom accommodation, meals, landing and embarkation\ncharges and the services of Canadian Pacific representatives\nthroughout the cruise, both aboard and ashore.\nTHE FARE DOES NOT INCLUDE\nGovernment revenue tax, personal items such as beverages\nnot ordinarily served on board without charge, laundry, baggage insurance, gratuities to stewards on the ship, conveyances\nor guides specially ordered by members on individual excursions\nand not ordered by the Cruise Director.\nDEPOSIT\nTo secure reservation, a deposit of 10 per cent, of the fare for\naccommodation selected is required at time of acceptance of\naccommodation offered. Full particulars are outlined in a\nseparate folder.\nCANCELLATION\nAccommodation cancelled after deposit receipt, passage\norder or ticket has been issued will be placed on sale, and, when\nresold, refund will be made of the amount paid, less expenses\nincurred.\nNo cancellations or alterations may be made in connection\nwith Shore Excursions after the books are closed, the date for\nwhich will be announced on board the Duchess of Bedford.\nMANAGEMENT\nThe Duchess of Bedford is owned and 'operated by the\nCanadian Pacific; the Shore Excursions are arranged and executed by the Canadian Pacific\u2014one management throughout\u2014\none standard of service\u2014the best.\nCanadian Pacific representatives, experienced in cruising, will\naccompany the cruise to attend to the comfort and entertainment of members aboard and ashore.\nPage 12\nENTERTAINMENT\nThe hours aboard ship will pass all too quickly, as there will\nbe so many interesting things to do\u2014deck tennis, quoits,\nshuffle-board, sports tournaments, bridge, concerts, masquerade\nballs, dancing, gymnasium, swimming pool and moving pictures.\nThe Library will contain a special collection of books on\ntravel, adventure and foreign countries.\nThere will be a splendid orchestra for classical music and for\ndancing.\nRELIGIOUS SERVICES\nDivine Service will be held on Sundays when the ship is not in\nport. An altar set is also provided for the celebration of Holy\nMass. There is usually a Roman Catholic priest among the\nmembers.\nFACILITIES\nThe Duchess of Bedford has every facility of the modern\nhotel\u2014barber, ladies' hairdresser, manicurist, surgeon, professional nurses, valet service, novelty shop, daily newspaper,\netc.\nThe Library of the Duchess of Bedford contains a varied\nassortment of books on travel and many volumes of fiction.\nThe Duchess of Bedford is equipped with long range radio\nfor the handling of news dispatches and members' messages.\nCLOTHING FOR THE CRUISE\nLight summer clothing is required for the greater portion of\nthe cruise. Ladies should take plenty of wash dresses and gentlemen white wash or Palm Beach suits. Sports clothes and\nmasquerade costumes will be useful.\nGentlemen will find a dinner jacket will meet all ordinary requirements.\nLAUNDRY\nLaundry may be sent ashore at San Juan and Cristobal\nApply to stateroom steward for laundry bag and list, insert\nname of owner and stateroom number, and deliver it to your\nsteward the day before arrival at above ports. Laundry will be\nreturned before the ship sails.\nThe Canadian Pacific suggests the above merely as a convenience for members and accepts no responsibility for loss,\ndamage or delay. Members are requested to check their laundry\nimmediately it is returned and report any discrepancy to the\nChief Steward, who will render assistance in obtaining adjustment.\nBAGGAGE\nAlthough there is practically no limit to the amount of personal baggage which may be carried on the steamship, it is\ninadvisable for members to burden themselves with too many\ntrunks and bags. Large trunks and other baggage not regularly\nneeded or which cannot be conveniently accommodated in the\nstateroom, will be placed in the baggage room which will be\naccessible throughout the cruise. Trunks for staterooms should\nnot exceed fourteen inches in height.\nEvery care is taken in connection with baggage, but, on board\nthe liability of the Canadian Pacific is limited, and they assume\nno responsibility ashore. Members are recommended to protect\nthemselves by insuring their baggage against loss, damage or\npilferage. This may be done at reasonable rates.\nBaggage may be checked from many points through to the\nship at New York upon payment of the New York transfer\ncharge.
