Road and Trail from Princeton is Unequalled for Prospectors or Sportsmen Steamboat mining camp 'looms large' in the eyes of the mining world at this present time. It is said to be the richest and largest gold ore proposition that has ever been _iscovere_r~TtVt__rgolden west of North America.^ Thie average of seven assays recently maofeAjf tbe porphyritic ore in which the values occur was $33 a ton. In other instances as high as $3000 per ton has been found. . The Inevitable Newspaper. A newspaper will shortly be published at Steamboat to be called the Nugget by Godenrath & Clgrfe. Both are oldtime journalists in B.C. and Steamboat will not suffer for want of the 'latest' or in strong advocacy of it* right and merits. Vancouver aud Goldfields, Nev., capital is being used to develop some of the lirst discovered claims in Steamboat and companies are now organized to operate snow at the summit of Railroad Pass 3^ feet deep and on Steamboat mountain it was 7 feet. Good Grass, Good Fish, When the new trail is made it will be possible to make Steamboat with loaded pack train from Princeton easily in three days and light in two days. Camping places are plentiful all along the route and grass is good. The streams and Lightning lakes are alive with trout and there is fine hunting in season. From various yiewpoints it will be observed, that this route to Steamboat is unexcelled and all information aud supplies may be obtained at Princeton. properties and install reduction plajfta. With the opening of the season and/dis_ appearance of snow a big stampede of miners and prospectors is anticipated. Prospector _ Paradise. From Princeton to Steamboat there is a continuous stretch of mineralized coun try which offers unequalled inducements for prospectors. It has been roughly estimated that some two thousand claims have been staked in Steamboat and district but this number could be easily doubled if the country along Hope mountains and eastward were thoroughly pros pected. It is admitted by all who have seen this section that it is prolific in resources of which mineral is chief. It is a prospector's paradise, most of it waiting for the footprints of man and the magic touch of capital. Build Trail in Week. The road and trail "leading to Steamboat camp from Princeton tuns via Ashnola, Kennedy mountain, Roche river camp, up Cambie creek to Steamboat. C. M. Snowden was recently over this route and in company with J. Crowley | staked 32_mineral claims on Steamboat mountain ; Gus Pouwels also staking a similar number. By the old trail, Mr. Snowden states there are eight crossings of Roche river which can be easily obviated by making a new trail along the north bank. He is confident that a pass able trail to Steamboat can be made in a week with a small gang of men. On March 24th Mr. Snowden found the SIGNS OF PROGRESS. A well signed pe^j^ion for a post offic^Jx_J_____£_vemile district was recently circulated and forwarded to the P. O. Department, Ottawa. New settlers and increase of population generally/accounts for the necessity of a Wst office. This section of countrw is favorably situated for railroad connection, the building Kettle Valley line traversing the settlement. As a progressive and enlightened community the settlers ask that the government assist to the extent of a post office, they will do the rest. There arc ,25 families to be served and the nam_~Oft_e prop__t_l P.O: is Or- an^^tPBT'^'Ast.'buol is ""about to be established iii Fivemile district and C. V. Semerad will shortly open a sto^an&__oj__Lhouse"r- A GREAT POWDER. ' Lionite,' the new/blasting explosive, is now to be/manufactured on a large scale byiaf new company, 'The British Columbia Safety Powder Co., Ltd.,' the prospectus for which may, with other information, be obtained from J. D. Lumsden a director. The invention of Li ite is the last word in explosiv being stronger and safer than any other, besides possessing that very important quality of being odorless. Workers are not affected with 'powder head' where Lionite is used. A 60 ton safe was recently installed in the bank of Commerce here and now all the equipment and* management of this high class institotion not only symbolizes but indeed is strength, safety and security. Leave your orders at Semerad's before Good Friday for delivered Hot Cross Buns. J. D. Andras, manager of the bank of Commerce, is taking a holiday trip east^ being relieved by M/. Foulks. It is whispered in veiylow tones that when Mr. Andras returns he will have abandoned the lonely, simple, life for that state which demands of man all that is noble, true, firm yet patient.
