Abbotsford U.F.V.D Preschool
gets grant for community ESL
Resource Program
The Upper Fraser Valley Developmental Preschool has received support
from Canada's largest community foundation for its proposed "Wee
Talk" ESL Resource program. The program will provide support to
preschool age children enrolled in licensed childcare facilities who have
difficulty communicating in the English language.
An ESL consultant will support the Abbotsford childcare providers by
offering additional strategies as well as working with the children. In
addition assistance will be given with transition to kindergarten. This
service is offered at no extra cost to the parents or childcare centres.
The Upper Fraser Valley Developmental Preschool is a non-profit society.
It was established in 1979 and since 1988, the preschool moved into a
newly constructed building called "Rotary House". The preschool
provides early intervention for ESL, special needs and typical children.
The integrated program offers an enriched and supportive environment.
Over the years the Society has integrated new services to meet the
changing needs of families and now thanks to the Vancouver Foundation
the "Wee Talk" ESL Resource Program can be extended to the
community. It is hopeful that local organizations and individuals will
come forward with their assistance to keep this project going in the future.

Way back in 1974, when I first visited Abbotsford for the first time, it
reminded me very much of a cowboy town in a western Hollywood
movie. The main street was South Fraser Way connecting Essendene
Street and after the Sikh Temple going west there were all kinds of trees
with hardly a store although there was the Unger Furniture store as well
as Hall Pontiac dealership. The population of Abbotsford was something
like 23,000 then.
Well, look at Abbotsford City now. It has a population] that is nearly
150,000. The streets are crowded anytime beginning from 8am to
midnight. We have an airport that is growing so fast that they are
requesting to have land released out of ALR for expansion. We have one
of the largest malls in Seven Oaks and there are many shopping centres
springing up all around the City. Industry in moving into this farming
city of our in large numbers and things are buzzing for all ofus here.
No doubt agriculture is one of the largest contributors towards our
economy and it is amazing to see how it has changed over the years.
Mechanization has come in and replacing manpower slowly but surely. I
can still remember when during the summer months berry fields would
be full of berry pickers of all origins whereas now you see only a
handful perched on top of the berry harvestor which goes from row to
row pulling down berries onto a belt that feeds into flats on top of the
machine.
Conair is building a huge hanger on the Townline Road side of the
airport and we are assured of thousands of jobs that will be created with
this project alone. Rumor has it that there are a few more technical
projects that are on the burner for this city. Yes I do believe that year
2000 could be the turning point for the economy of Abbotsford.
The other good thing to happen in Abbotsford has been the Tradex
building. Hardly a weekend goes by without a function being held here.
The credit should go to Lauren Thomas and her team who have worked
hard in bringing all these different events to this part of the Valley.

COMMENTS
March 6-12 is Pharmacy Awareness Week. The theme this year is "New
Times, New Attitude, Taking charge of your health". Part of taking charge
is to understand the drugs you are taking. That's our forte. Let us use
our knowledge to expand your knowledge.
Salmonella is one of the most prevalent types of food-borne illness.
There is trend to eating raw, undercooked or unpasteurized foods which
could make people vulnerable to sickness. Raw foods like eggs, poultry, meat or unpasteurized dairy products are generally the source. Don's
eat them raw.
If you have asthma, you know it is well controlled if: 1) you use your
quick-relief medication less than 4 times a week; 2) breathing problems
wake you at night or early the morning less than once weekly; 3) if you
have symptoms of coughing, wheezing or shortness ofbreath 3 or fewer
times per week. Asthma can be controlled. See your doctor if you can't
say yes to these criteria.
The fine prints on some oral decongestants warn against using the product if you have high blood pressure. So what can you safely use? Decongestants nose sprays or drops are not absorbed into the blood stream
so have a minimal effect on blood pressure. However use them for only
3 days to avoid rebound congestion. |^
Knowledgeable, approachable, dependable.. .our pharmacists are all
this and more. We' d be happy to fill your next prescription.
Much medication is wasted due to side effects or ineffectiveness. To
avoid waste and help our provincial drug plan, ask for a trial amount of
your new prescription. In Ontario's Ottawa valley, 91 pharmacies collected old, unused drags for one month that totaled close to $ 100,000.
Asking for smaller amounts initially will save money.
Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NS AIDs) like ibuprofen, are
available without prescription in pharmacies for pain and inflammation.
We encourage you to ask the pharmacist before using these. They can
cause problems if you have a history of gastric ulcers, are on anticoagulant drugs or have kidney problems.
Nuts are high in fat but most of this fat is unsaturated fat. Unsaturated
fats do have a good effect on the heart and blood vessels by improving
the cholesterol proffie. Eating 5 oz per week certainly won't harm your
health and just may improve it.
Antidepressant medications have helped millions of people. Should your
stop taking them when you are feeling better? Discontinuing antidepressants early can result in recurrence of the depression. Continuing
for a minimum of 4-9 months after symptoms subside is recommended.
However, check with your doctor first before stopping any medication.
Let us enhance your understanding of your medications for your better
health. See you in our pharmacy soon.

"POSITIVE ATTITUDE, DEDICATION,
AND HARD WORK HELPS YOU REACH
YOUR GOALS" - Gary Tiwana
About 10 years ago when Gary Tiwana decided to make a career change he had a goal
in life. He quit his manager's position back
in Toronto and together withhis family moved
to Abbotsford in late 1988. He achieved his
goals with a face to face up front approach,

P.R.I.D.E Ski Trip
to Manning j
>th
The annual P.R.I.D.E. ski trip occurred this year on February 13
and 14th. Students from Abbotsford Senior and Abbotsford Junior
went to Manning Park and spent two days and one fun filled night.
Some participated in downhill skiing or cross-country while others
in snowboarding. The leadership team consisted of Mr. Sarowa,
vice principal of Abootsford Senior and several other volunteers.
While the students were mostly Indo-Canadian, there were also
students from other ethnic descent. Participants learned positive
interaction, good communication skills, and had a chance to
demonstrate their leadership skills all while having a good time.
P.R.I.D.E. hopes the next year's trip will be even more successful
than this year's tremendous trip.

Chamber President Says "Right Direction,
Wrong Speed", re: Budget
"Cutting taxes for customers of business is a step in the right
direction" says Douglas MacAdams, President, Abbotsford
Chamber of Commerce in an initial reaction to the federal budget.
"What we needed were dramatic tax cuts to address the
approximate 10% drop in personal disposable incomes in British
Columbia in the past decade."
MacAdams continued: "But the tax cuts which have been
announced are not as significant as we think is needed to restore
and assure secure incomes and a secure standard of living for the
customers of our members. And we need speedier pay down of the
accumulated debt to assure long term prosperity. The budget in
many regards points in the right direction. But it goes at the wrong
speed—too slow in tax reductions, too slow in debt repayment, and
too fast in increased spending."
Abbotsford United Sports & Cultural Association
The above association is a non - profit organisation and is in
the process of starting a Ladies Bhangra Team. All those who
are interested should call and get themselves registered soon.

:#r Kindergarten Registration 2000-01 ^jS
We are thankful to all parents who have registered their children for
Kindergarten for the next school year. We look forward to welcoming these
students from the beginning of September. You have certainly made a wise
choice as the school is committed to imparting quality education to your
children in a 6URMAT environment.
A Reminder: Kindergarten registration is to be completed bplarch 10,
2000. Since registration is on a first-come-first served basis, to avoid
disappointment, you must register your child without further delay.
Registration forms are available from the School Secretary. Rajinder
Dhaliwal. Phone: 852-8986
Registration for Grades 1 -10
Registration for Grades 1-10 will start on March 1,2000 and will be completed
by April 20,2000. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. Children
already studying in this school are given admission preference. However .every
year, depending on available vacancies, we also admit students moving from
other schools. Parents who are interested in transferring their children to
this school are requested to fill in registration forms ASAP. The earlier you
do this, the better your chances of getting your child enrolled in this school.
Dasmesh Punjabi School is fast gaining a reputation as a leader in the field
of education as well as sports. Our students art making us proud with their
solid achievements in various fields. The most recent are the basketball wins
by the Falcons. Both the girls' and boys' teams are in the finals of the Zone
Basketball Tournament. Congratulations to them and their competent
basketball coaches! They have shown the players the true meaning of
dedication and discipline.
We attempted adding one classroom every year to accommodate our growing
student population. However, this year, we found the opportunity to add a
block of seven classrooms and a new 100X100' gymnasium all at once to the
Intermediate Campus. This now gives us scope and space for more educational
and sports activities; it will also allow us to shift Grade 4 next year from the
Primary School Campus to the Intermediate School Campus.
Finally, do not forget to get your child's registration completed in time.
Mr Dalip Singh Sill, Principal
Mrs Sulochana Chand, Vice Principal

Is STIBC Going to Respond?
The Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC) is one of
the twelve provincial and territorial associations that make up the Canadian Translators and Interpreters Council (CTIC), which, in turn, is a member of International Federation of Translators (EFT, but popular as FIT).
Those who wish to join STIBC have to sit for an admission exam that assesses
their potential as translators or interpreters. On passing the exam, they become
only associate members who have to sign an agreement to abide by a code of
STIBC's ethics.
But look at the plight of these associates! They pass the membership exam, but
instead of becoming the STIBC members, they end up .as only associate members, ineligible to undertake any translation certification jobs. You may be aware
that these people are generally new and mostly jobless immigrants, frantically
looking for means to augment their family income. But it seems that STIBC has
no heart! On the one hand, its admission exam, according to it, assesses the examinees' potential as translators or interpreters; while on the other hand, it does
not recognize them as translators or interpreters. Rather, it requires them to sit for
CTIC test in their language of proficiency in order for them to become certified
translators or interpreters.
We know for sure that the CTIC exam is by no means of a higher level than the
STIBC admission exam. We are, therefore, of the opinion that the moment a
person passes the STIBC membership admission exam, he/she ought to be admitted as a member, and accepted and designated as a certified translator or interpreter. The word "associate" is rather derogatory to this class of specialists; and,
therefore, it ought to be struck down. Anyway, we strongly suggest that the present
"associate" members be declared as certified translators or interpreters so that
they may be professionally useful to the BC community.
Will STIBC ever come forward to justify/explain why its so-called associate members should not be eligible to undertake translation certification jobs and help end
unemployment and lift up, at least to some extent, the already sagging BC economy;
especially, in the face of the fact that BC College of Teachers, the most prestigious educational accreditation body in BC, has already started accepting translation certifications done by the associate members?
We think STIBC must make amends for its inhumane attitude towards its new
members by making suitable amendments to is rules and regulations, thus moving
in the right direction ensuring that it is genuinely concerned about its goal of promoting the interest and professional development of translators and interpreters
ofBC.
Well, now, why not touch on yet another "important" style of STIBC's functioning
that has left an excruciating impact and an indelible impression on the psyche of
the new associate members? i
We know STIBC and CTIC hold their respective exams on different dates and
only once each year. We also understand that both these bodies need to work in
conjunction with each other so that the new STIBC associate members may not
be deprived of the opportunity of sitting for the CTIC exam the year they pass the
STIBC admission exam. But we shudder to reflect on STIBC's performance last
year. Its admission exam was administered on September 25, 1999 to a large
number of candidates at Langara College, Vancouver. The question paper carried
only one question on it - a one-page passage for translation from the source
language to the target language. Most candidates, we are told, finished the paper
within just half an hour.
But look at STIBC's "efficiency"! The results were declared on December 2,1999
- after a full 68 days! Most of the candidates received their result letters around
the 10th December 1999. The CTlBC deadline for receiving the exam forms from
the associate members had already expired on November 20, 1999. This is how
they missed their chance of sitting for the CTIC February 2000 exam. Now, that
poor lot will be able to sit for the CTIC exam in 2001 only.
What a criminal waste of the people's time, money and effort! But, look at STIBC!
How prompt and on time it certainly was to remind its new associate members to
rush their membership renewal cheques!
STIBC's response outlining some immediate and viable measures it proposes to
take to redress the grievances of its associate members vis-a-vis its malfunctioning
as referred to above will be appreciated.
From: Two readers of Punjabi Patrika, Abbotsford
P.S. Copy of this letter has been forwarded to STIBC as well as some other newspapers.
Dear Editor the Patrika,
I attended the NDP Leadership convention a few weeks ago, and I have never
been prouder of our party than the moment the ballot results were read out declaring Ujjal Dosanjh the leader and the Premier-designate of BC.
Ujjal's victory sends a clear signal of the inclusiveness of the NDP and how the
strength of our social movement is in its' diversity. It is easy to forget that the
provincial government does not always reflect the values of the NDP because,
governments have to make tough decisions. However seeing the party come together and put our collective faith in Ujjal's hands reaffirmed my belief in the
NDP's commitment to social justice.
The Indo-Canadian community has deep roots in the NDP as both groups have
had to continually struggle against the odds to make a difference. The struggle for
social justice never ends and even the most committed activist can become weary
from what sometimes seems to be a hopeless cause. Ujjal Dosanjh struggles and
victories help to reinsure us all with a sense of a higher purpose in the social justice
movement and a reminder of how far we have already come.
In his speech at the convention, Ujjal referred to how he was inspired by the words
ofhis grandfather. Ujjal's grandfather told him that serving the public through
political office is the noblest of pursuits. I feel Ujjal will help to renew a sense of
nobility to political office, and restore the recent battered image that has plagued
politicians of all strips.
Ujjal also talked about his humble beginnings in a small rural village in India and
how fortunate he has been, to share in the bounty of BC. Ujjal's attainment of the
highest office in the province is a great triumph for Indo-Canadians in Canada.
However, Ugal's victoiy;:would not have been possible if it wasn't for political
pioneers such as Narajan Grewal who broke new ground for him and other Indo-
Canadians in BC.
Grewal, a landed immigrant from East Punjab moved, to Mission in 1941 and
became "the first Indian ever elected to political office in BC and possibly North
America" in 1950 (Ken Herar). In 195 5, Grewal expanded his political horizon by
running for the CCF party in the Dewdney riding. Grewal narrowly lost the provincial election to Socred incumbent Lyle Wicks.^^^
Both Ujjal and Narajan have come from humble beginnings and have had to surmount incredible barriers to be successful in their political pursuit. The key to their
success is simple, integrity, compassion for socifj'justicr^and a strong sense of
humility! S5*pj
I am very confident in Ujjal's ability to guide and lead the party and with his capable hands at the tiller of our social movement we will chart a brave new course into
our future challenges and struggles together. -Shawn Jodway

Call for Sarbat Khalsa on April 13
Jalandhar - Deposed Akal Takht Jathedar Ranjit Singh gave a call for 'Sarbat
Khalsa' on Baisakhi next month at Anandpur Sahib and said he would resume
functioning as "real'' jathedar from then onwards. The cleric gave the call for
Sarbat Khalsa at the controversial seminar organised by the World Sikh
Council (WSC) in defiance of a ban imposed by Akal Takht jathedar Puran
Singh. Ranjit Singh urged the gathering to empower him to call a Sarbat
Khalsa and resume functioning as jathedar, whereupon the gathering accorded
its approval with shouts of "bole so nihal'' and raising of hands. He appealed
for holding similar seminars in each city to educate Sikh masses and build a
momentum for the Sarbat Khalsa. The seminar also rejected Puran Singh's
directive dissolving the WSC and accused him of playing into the RSS hands.
"I will start working as jathedar of the top temporal seat once I get blessings
of the Sarbat Khalsa. Then, I will resume the tasks which I left in March last
year,'' Ranjit Singh told reporters after the seminar.
Khalsa is history on reel: Mangal Dhillon
Patiala - Khalsa is the cinematic revival of the Khalsa history. This was stated
by noted film and television actor Mangal Dhillon while addressing a press
conference. Looking thrilled at the premiere ofhis film Khalsa at Patiala
tonight, he said his dream would be realised if the film reached every Punjabi
house-hold across the globe. It was no mill-of-the-run but an off-beat film.
"We have spent seven years and Rs 75 lakh on the movie and now we are
going to show it to the people," he added. He said they had received encouraging response from the Bank of Punjab which had sponsored 30 shows of
the film. He urged the Sikh industrialists, Punjabis, multi-national companies
and non-resident Indians to help sponsor the shows.
The movie is being shown openly on projectors and its first show was organised in Rajpura Colony. Dhillon said he had deliberately delayed the telecast
of the film as television was a casual medium and Khalsa was no casual
subject for entertainment. While talking about his future projects, he said he
was planning to make film from Sikhs to Singhs as well as The History of the
Golden Temple.

MANISHA KOIRALA
A long time ago, when she was still a greenhorn, a
bigtime producer declared that Manisha Koirala had
no future in Bollywood. And while the grapevine still
swears that the hotshot filmwallah was trying to
sabotage Koirala's prospects simply because she had
turned down his improper propositions, reasons
forwarded on his side were aplenty: she cannot act or
dance, she has a faltering dialogue delivery style, she
lacks screen presence and is thoroughly unprofessional about timing.
Today, the same producer does not desist from admitting to the Press that he's
dying to do another film with Manisha Koirala. And the Nepali demi-goddess
has reached a position from where she can afford to be choosy, cocking a
snook even at the best of Bollywood offers, if the role is not up to her expectation.
From Saudagar in 1991 to Mann in 1999, Manisha Koirala has carved that
niche for herself— a niche that has helped her effortlessly survive a spate of
flops over the past few years as also boldly go on experimenting with roles, the
way no other heroine would dare to even a few years ago.
For Manisha Koirala, more than any other contemporary heroine, can solely be
credited with triggering off the current craze of trying to bridge the gap between
commercial and art film. That, in essence, is also the USP of Manisha.
It has helped her survive despite an insipid show over the past few years (her
last solid hit was Gapt in 1997). Of her six releases last year, she had five flops
(Lai Badshah, Laawaris, Kartoos, Hindustan Ki Kasdm and Mann). Gloss
over the sole hit, Kachche Dhaage, for the joke on the film goes that Koirala
had just signed the film to lipsync to those beautiful Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
numbers, and go on a free trip to the exquisite Swiss locales where they were
shot.
Yet the offers keep pouring in for Manisha. And our kaanchi is all set to tee off
on the course of Y2K with her Sanjay Dutt co-starrer Khauff, releasing this
week. A Sanjay Gupta directorial vehicle, Khauff already carries excellent
previews of Koirala's performance and the actress must be looking forward to
the film. A successful run for Khauff, then, would automatically act as a
damburst for her parched career.
Critics have often drawn a similarity between Rekha and Manisha in several
contexts. Manisha's temperament is well-known, much like the South Indian
goddess's. In fact, Rekha admitted recently that she sees the same vulnerability
in Manisha today that possessed herself once. Like Rekha, Manisha's romantic
escapades are the stuff that tinsel legends are made of. But more importantly,
the two also share this innate ability to escape the image trap and experiment
with roles.
For, j ust like it happened with Rekha, Bollywood initially tried to tie down
Manisha in the timetested frame of a vacuous candyfloss beauty (given her
natural good looks, it was expected). And Manisha had to survive a few atrocious attempts such as First Love Letter, Anmol, Guddu and Sangdil Sanam.
Till Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1942 A Love Story happened in 1994. For Manisha,
who openly admits it was Chopra who "taught me acting", the floodgates had
opened. By the time Mani Ratnam's multilingual Bombay followed a year later,

every 'important' filmmaker was gunning for her dates. Akele Hum Akele Turn
(1995), Agnisakshi (1996), Khamoshi (1996), Yugpurush (1998) and Dil Se
(1998) would only consolidate her position as one of India's finest contemporary
actresses, irrespective of their showing at the box office.
Today,Manisha has seen all the highs and lows of glamour over the past decade. And she stands at a juncture where she can freely continue experimenting
with roles. That's music for diehard connoisseurs of cinema, who value a good
performance over skinflick latkas and jhatkas, to say the least.
KHAUFF
Stars: Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Suresh Oberoi,
Sharad Kapoor, Tinnu Anand, Parmeet Sethi, Farida Jalal
Music: Anu Malik
Direction: Sanjay Gupta
With his mane flying, Sanjay Dutt strides across the screen taking slow, deliberate
steps. And the frontbenchers erupt into wolf whistles. Fresh from his Vaastav
triumph, Sanjay is once again cast in the role of a tough contract killer.
Khauff is all about the fear that heroine Manisha Koirala is subjected to after she
becomes an eyewitness to the killing of a senior cop. The killer happens to be the
son of an influential politician and has to be protected from the clutches of law.
Dutt as Babu is entrusted with the task of preventing Manisha from giving evidence in the court.
Meanwhile Manisha, an airhostess, flies to Mauritius and Sanjay follows her. But
far from getting down to his task of shutting up the key witness, in true
Bollywood style the killer falls for the girl. He does not want to get tough with her
and instead tries to gently persuade her against going to the court. But Manisha,
propelled by her conscience and feelings for the slain cop's widow, identifies the
killer.
As the politician's goons accuse Sanjay of messing up the contract, he is forced
to show his true colours and use terror tactics on Manisha. Using Manisha's sister
as a pawn, Sanjay manages to get the killer acquitted. A furious Manisha then
decides to strike back, to get justice.
Khauff lacks taut direction in comparison to, say, Ramgopal Varma's Kaun?,
starring Urmila Matondkar, which belongs to the same genre and had its scary
moments. Sanjay's role is not clearly delineated. He looks tough but never comes
across as menacing. While he fits the contract killer role, his weakness for the girl
he is supposed to eliminate does not gel and hence looks unconvincing.
The film has its moments, though. The scene where Sanjay speeds up in a car and
threatens to run over Manisha's sister is well conceived. The long period that the
film took to complete results in continuity jerks. It is evident in the way Manisha
looks — plump in one shot and slim in the very next. The few scenes between the
lead pair are mechanical, lacking in verve.
Anu Malik's music is a big letdown. Worse, the songs look totally detached from
the narrative. The only peppy number, filmed on guest artistes Daler Mehndi and
Raveena Tandon, fails to raise the film from its mediocrity. g*j§|
Despite a large star cast, director Gupta fails to use them effectively. The film was
apparently completed in two phases, stalled as it was due to the court cases that
Dutt was involved in. In a gesture to help out the producer, Sanjay offered to
finish the film after his legal restrictions were removed. Still, Khauff'had difficulty
finding distributors.
Manisha Koirala is no longer the same force at the box office that she was when
she signed the film. The advent of new glam girls such as Aishwarya Rai and Rani
Mukherjee has pushed Manisha to the 'senior' bracket. The failure of Mann, her
last release, had also labeled her as unlucky. And if Khauff faxes badly, her market
will go down further.

Prof. Hardyal Singh Aulakh MA, MPhil
Note:
The Grammarian is a regular feature of this paper and does three things:
(a) answers your English usage as well as grammatical queries;
(b) assigns you a suitable homework; and, §|§§
(c) publishes the homework answers in the oncoming issue.
We would, therefore, appreciate if you could participate in this feature
with all your heart and with all your soul. - Editor
Sunita Narang, Mission, BC
Q. How would you differentiate between end product and end result ?
Ans. Simple. You just need to know the difference between product
and result.
End product usually means, 'the final product of a
process, or series of processes.'
Example: These young professionals are the end product of
expensive public schools and exclusive colleges of Canada.
End result may simply mean the eventual outcome. Very often,
these phrases can be substituted for each other.
Example: This agreement is the end product/end result of several
years of negotiations.
Caution: You may use only product or result, as the use of end is
viewed as clearly redundant these days.
Anne, Abbotsford, BC
Q. Which phrase is correct, quest for or quest of?
A. Both are correct, depending upon the context they are used in.
Example:
She has always been in favour of the never-ending
quest for the truth.
She went around the whole world in quest of her missing brother.
Jasse, Surrey, BC
Q. I very often get confused about whether stationery or stationary
means writing materials. Please help.
A. Very simple. Stationery means writing materials that may include
a pen.
Now, look at pen which has an 'e' in it, and stationery, too, has an
'e'. If you keep in mind pen and the 'e'in it, you will never get
confused.
Well, stationary means not moving.
For example: a stationary truck.
Manpreet, Abbotsford, BC
Q. Which is more appropriate in formal English, especially or
specially ?
Ans. Both especially and specially are adverbs, as you know. I think
we can understand better if we first have a look at their adjectival
forms, that is, especial and special.
In the beginning of the 20th century, especial had a meaning different
form that of special. Especial meant exceptional (e. g., an especial
wine) as opposed to something for a particular purpose
(e. g., a special wine to go with cheese).
Hence, especially may mean exceptionally/outstandingly/remarkably.
Example,
She is an especially eloquent speaker.
And specially may mean particularly.
Example,
This chair was specially designed for the handicapped.
In the end, we would like to say that most writers these days do not
seem to preserve this distinction any more.
Over to Letter Patterns in Words now:
Keeping the given letter sequence, change the position of only one
letter in each word below to make a new word:
Example: startles starlets
I empathic
