PREMIER ASQUITH NAILS FREE TRADE FLAG TO MAST foi McQUARRIE & CO. mStreet SOLE AGENTS tOR ALL ABOVE PROPERTY, London, April 30The Liberals held a party love feast at tbe Reform club this morning to welcome their new chief, Premier Asquith, and give him an opportunity ot publishing a declaration of his policy. Resolutions of loyalty to Mr. Asquith were adopted by acclamation, after which the premier -proceeded to outline his program. He nailed to the mast the flag% of free trade, education, licensing and old age pensions, hut he fought shy of Home Rule. This is considered as confirmation of the rumors following the defeat of Winston Churchill in tha northwest division of Manchester, that the premier had notified him of his disapproval of i Mr. Churchill's pledges to the Nationalists regarding Home Rule. OUR CATALOGUE SHOWS MANY FINE PIECES. Our Diamonds Not Surpassed By Any Other Firm on the Continent This is].a strong statement but 'tis true. Our diamonds and precious stofies are bought personally by our diamond buyer in Amsterdam. Our order being one offcthe largest taken to Europe is eagerly competed for among the dealers which results in low prices. We are also one of the few firms paying cash. Accruing from these unusual advantages we are enabled to quote prices on our high-quality gem that cannot be duplicated in Canada or the United States. The value in a diamond is gauged by its freedom from flaws, color and perfection of cutting; these points are not more ideally combined th&n in a Birks store. We have an unlimited stock of diamonds and precious stones at the lowest prices but our principal argument is QUALITY. The City HAS NUMEROUS ATTRACTIONS from an industrial standpoint, and many fine site., with frontage on the harbor .are available for factory and milling purposes. Railway and water shipping facilities are of Lie lest. Tlie British Columbia Electric Railway Company Is 1 r.pared to supply ELECTRIC POWER AT LOW RATES for manufacturing and other purposes n .Yew Westminster and at any point along its railway and power lines. Electric power costs about half the price of steam power, and saves a heavy initial outlay for plant. With the proposed extension of the Electric Railway along the banks of the Fraser to Eburne, and from .New Westminster through the municipalities of Surrey. Langley, Matsqui, Sumas and Chilliwack, to t'he Town of Chilliwack, the GROWTH OF THE ROYAL CITY both as to population and commercial importance, should be doubled within the next Lev years. We would suggest to merchants already established in New Westminster and who may contemplate enlarging their premises and plants, and .also to any parties looking into the establishment of NEW INDUSTRIES the advisability of taking up wi;.i us the question of Electric Power before placing orders for machinery, The many advantages of electric power over any other power are becoming better known everyday. Evidence of this statement is the Cad that pratlcally all new industries ar? Installing electric power, and many of the old. r concerns are changing over to electric.
