Tlie first section of tram No. L3 arrived on time yesterday afternoou but the s.jc- ■ond section was delayed and will ot arrive until this afternoon. Train No. 3, due at -i.'.i this morning is expected to arrive at A o'clock this afternoon. Trains No. 2, I and 11 are being held wesi of Palliser until the tracks nre cleared. Torrential rains brought down a series of mud and rock slides on the C.P.R. main line near Rogers Pass on Saturday evening, delaying traffic until Monday morning, when the obstructions were reported at the sup- erlntendent'6 oilice here to have been cleared. A cloudburst, high up among the peaks near the summit of the Sel- kirks was responsible for the trouble. Vast quantities of water suddenly Bpilled on the mountain sides over- hanglng the tracks, washed down de- diris and mud un to the line. The first slides wire succeeded by others which greatly handicapped the clearing operations. The C.P.R. marshalled all its available forces it the - scene of the obstruction. Trams from Vancouver and those bound for the const ■were delayed each side of the slide. A local .v.is mad.' up at Revelstoke to handle the traffic into Vancouver from Kootenay points. Former Revelstoke Editor is Honorably Discharged The Three Hills Review contains the following report ot a police court case in which H. 0. Knight, formerly editor of the Revelstoke Argus, took a prominent part. H. G. Knight editor of the Three Hills Renew was brought into court last Saturday atternoon on a charge issued by the Three Hills village council for using profanity and disturbing the peaci, the information being laid by F. M. Tagtmeyer, the chairman of the council. From the evidence given it appi tl 'on thc eight of July 22 a crowd of b ilster- ous b'.odiums f. nml gr . t pleasure in assault in'.- certain parties who had worked against tlie new prohibition fill wherein a near riot followed. The council produced 7 witnessis, who when placed on the stand stated that they hid lizard several loud remarks on the evening mentioned hut as they were some distance away it was hard io tell who had actually created the disturbance. The magistrate in summing uji the case found the evidence Insu 'M-ient to convict and honorably dismissed the defendant, Hefore closing the presiding magistrate Btated the evidence was presented in such a spiteful manner an.l I I B of the witnesses had not even been sub- poenod ami that in ins judgment the village council of Three Hills were engaged in great work to bring action agalnsi a man in I usiia-ss and having him charged contrary to chapter lid, section 23fi, clause "F," of the criminal code which meant nothing more than nn arrest ou a vagrancy charge. Before closing His Honor stated that to him it looked like a high handed piece of spite Work and if continued it would he very dangerous to thc future growth of the village, and added that in future if they found it necessary to call his services and could prod ce no stronger case than the one he had jeint tried they would be compelled to j-ufTcr the conseiiuemea. The defendant, If (!, Knight wai represented hy Barrister J. Vincent Powi TrochU, who informed the court that from tho evidence submitted he would n.it even put his client on the stand lint have him to the merry of thc court. After the magistrate had criticized the village council he turned to (he defendant with the v rdi, "Hi (!. Knight, you are honorably discharged from this court."
