ANIMAL PERfORMtRS The Best Tent Exhibition Ever Seen in the Kootenay Valley—A Good, Clean Show. The circus has come and gone, and every person of the many thmisnud who were in attendance, pronounce it to be the very best circus that 1ms beau seen in Southeast Kootenay, or tbe Oranbrook district. As a circus, it was out of the ordinary. It is strictly an animal performance, the performers being the animals, assisted by their train •rs. The circus hns caused consul arable aommeut here iu Craniirook ami tbe district, and bas been n matter nf Interest, and cnue thought to th. int.lli5.nt public, as to the extent and possibility of educating wild animals, especially ihe ferocious beasts of the African Jungles. The Al. G. Barnes big three ringed etrcus, is a distinctive credit to thc owner, manager and trainers, it ls one show, on the road, that depends entirely upon1 trained animals, of every description as Its performers. It brings the wild animals of the forest, th. ferocious animals of the darr. continent, the African jungles, before the people in a way that is night Indicative of animal life in a state of nativity, also in an educated state. It also shows to what a condition, mnn, by time and perseverance can take these animals and educate thctn so as to enlighten and amuse mankind. Tho A!. 0. tauten oiroaxj tb a big three.ringed show, the centre ring being a cage, of some forty feet ln diameter, made of heavy iron bars, affording absolute protection to tho audience and being closed ih in such a manner as to ensure In ease ot trouble, or that one or more of tbe animals should get beyond the control of its trainer, a sure guarantee of safety to all. Among the many features to be seen ln in the Al. 0. Barnes circus, Is the tour trick Arabian stallion posies. This performance is a surprise and wonder to all. Inside the cage, Miss Martha Fiorina, Introduces her specialties, which Includes six Persian spotted leopards And two South American panthers. Seven Rocky Mountain acrobatic coats perform stunts that make th ■ children laugh, and their ciders wonder as to the possibilities of training them animals, natives of the Rockies. The three Siamese elephants under the management of Mr. T. Buckley, perform stunts that arc particularly pleasing to the women, and perform tonaorial tricks that remind men of how the barbers treat thorn when undergoing a shave. Four black and brown hears perform curious stunts under the direction of R. Thornton. But one of the most wonderful of STAR BASE BALL GAME Cranbrook Defeats Moyie 7 to 3. A LARGE ATTENDANCE £ xcellenl Work by Battery and thc fielders Gives the Game to Cranbrook. Comedian with "The Bohemian Girl," at the Opera House tomorrow front rank of hands In Canada. Antl last of all the Big h'Ht lady who weighs over 500 pounds. In conclusion we will say that the Al. 0. Harnes circus is the ciot-nost, and most interesting circus which has visited Cranbrook. OIL FUEL FOR BATTLESHIPS. San Francisco, Cal., June 13—The advantage of oil as fuel have be. n the suhjert of exhaustive inquiry nnd experiment by British and American experts. An extensive oil inei estahll-.hi>wut was fitted up near Portsmouth, I.ug- land, and experiments carried cut with various boilers, systems of tir- ing and mechanical sto.te.-9, while 'further trials were made in htrh hat; jtleships and destroyers. AcrMdlng to the New York Herald's nnvnl correspondent, the great objection eaus- I ocl by tlie dense volume of smoke | which poured from the funnels of the i vessels at previous trials, has been ;eliminntcd. "At present,M he writes, "it may be said thnt with the consumption of liquid fuel alone, there , is almost complete freedom Irom the many exhibits is the performing , flame and smoke at tbc funnel, even Sea Lions, Tom, Dick nnd Harry, when tlie boilers are pressed" who were captured ofl the Fnralone Islands by Captain Stonewall, who has educated them to such a deirreo, that they ride horseback, play hall, climb stairs and other interesting stunts. Again In the centre cage trainer Hd. Kelly Introduces seven black maned South African lions, wh obey every command also enters the cage of ; The importance of those experiments is obvious. If the oil can be used without revealing the presence of the vessels by smoke, the only objection to Its use hy hat tb ships has been removed. In tbe evening game at the Ball grounds on Tuesday, the Cranbrook nine defeated the Moyie team by a score of 7 to 3. Despite the one-sided score, the game was fast and replete witb good plays. Pitcher Lundherg allowed no hits, and the entire nine played a star game. Tbe boys from Moyie put up a fast game, but were out-played by the home team. Puulin. catcher for the visitors met witb a serious accident in the eighth inning, while running to flrst he had the misfortune to dislocate his ankle, and had to be carried from the ground. His place was tilled, by Mater Crowe, of the intermediate nine, during the flrst half of the ninth. Tbe game was a hot one until the flrst of the fifth, when Brogow scored a run for Moyie. while Cranbrook received a hat-lul of eggs. It was in the last half of the sixth when the aeroplane went up, and the fireworks commenced. Through these "open" pores ihe destructive sulphur fumes attnrk the Iron and hasten disintegration. On the other hand, Semi- Steel is a close-Brained ma terial, with a smooth-as-glass surface which practically seals or "closes" up lho pores. Semi- Steel easily repels the attacks of gas fumes and thus greatly prolongs the life of the lire- pot. A Semi-Steel fire-pot weighs 20 per cent, heavier than thc same sice una* pattern in gray iron. It is therefore better able to endure tremendous heat. Semi-Steel ia made by an exclusive McClary profess. You can only ret a Semi-Steel fire-pot with a McClary furnace. This company, The Coalinga-Eureka Oil Company, Inc.. is a limited liability corporation, the shares of which are non-assessable, and have it par value of 81, As developmenl progresses, the pi ice of stock will naturally advance. Even now trading in the Coalinga Eureka shares is very active, fhe limiled block to be sold at 25 cents per share should, we estimate, be taken up on or before July llilh. We have, therefore set tills as the closing out date for the unsold shares in this Company at 2,"i cents each. This means that it will be Impossible for you to buy a share in this Company al 25 cents after July 15th, 11110, aud we give this notice that the price of stock will be advanced to at least 50 cents on the morning of July 10. .Should there then remain any portion of the block at 25 cents, the same will be immediately withdrawn from the market.
