May it please Your Honour: Sir,—I have the honour to transmit herewith the Report of the Coal and Petroleum Control Board for the year ended December 31st, 1950. D. K. PENFOLD, Acting Chairman, Coal and Petroleum Control Board. Victoria, B.C., 1951. Annual Report of the Coal and Petroleum Control Board For the Calendar Year Ended December 31st, 1950 During 1950 some 154,790,849 gallons of gasoline were sold in the Province of British Columbia, according to figures reported to the Board by the various oil companies. Of this amount, service-stations sold 107,182,686 gallons, an increase over 1949 of some 13,008,465 gallons and an increase over the year 1939 of 64,207,058 gallons. The rise and decline of gasoline sales covering the years 1939 to 1950 are shown in tables on page 11. Some 321 applications for new licences in the petroleum industry were received during the year, as compared with 348 in 1949. After careful investigation by the Board, 213 of these applicants were granted licences to commence business. In the coal industry, retail sales were 1,461,014 tons, as compared with 1,567,545 tons in 1949.
