Notwithstanding the low price of silver there is taking place a general revival in mining' all over British Columbia but inone especially is it noticeable in the Lardeau. There is a greater demand lor min*. ing property than has been shown lor several years. There have been a number of deals put through this tall ot considerable magnitude and the parties or companies as the case may be, that have acquired these properties are very desirable men of good business ability, There is the Lardeau Mines, Ltd., which company owns the Lardeau Queen, Lardeau King and Lardeau Prince on Lexington Creek. We have not seen these claims but they are well known to mining men and prospectors in Ferguson and are said io have a good showing. These claims will be systematically developed next season and as the group lies in a rich mineral belt we hope to see this property add another to the list of Lardeau's rich mines. Then there is Ihe Lardeau-Dun- can Development Co., of B. C, which controls the Primrose and Golden Circle properties on the north fork ot Lardeau river. Considerable work has beeu clone on these claims and they are believed to be good properties. Then there is the Myee exploration Co., Limited, which has been incorporated recently to take over ihe Cromwell group on Brown creek. The Myee Co. has already lot a contract for a tunnel of 200 Ieet. Hon. Jamas Dunsmuir has re- -igned ns premier of British Columbia and Hon. P.. G. Prior holds the reins of power. Thej colonel is well qualified to fill lhe position of premier having served a number of years ,.s member for Victoria in the Dominion parliament and the last term of Conservative rule preceding the election of 1896 he was a member of the cabinet without portfolio. The throe claitti3 owned by the company are tho "Lardeau Queen," the "Lardeau Kins" and the "Lardeau Prince," all abutting ond to end, through which three loads pass the entire length, situated at tho head of Lexington ereek, in the Lardeau mining division of Wost Kootenav, British Columbia. These three claims aro located tin the western slope of Goat Mountain, tho lines being north-westerly and south-easterly, and form ono complete portion of Mineral land of about 150 acres. Thoy lie east leBS than four miles up from Fish river. The group lies in the "Sitting Bull" and "Wild West" belts, two ot the strongest and best known leads in that district, and work already dono on npjacout extent ions has given most satisfactory results as to oxtont of ore hurtles and increased values with depth. The formation is slate and schist, lying in nn Immenso lime dyke, and tho eropplngs of the leads are generally topped with hoavy iron capping and quart''., which gives assays'from $8 upon thc surface. VEINS AND WORK DONE Exploitation consists of two open cuts along tho surface for a distance of twenty foet, which exposed a hotly of argentiferous galena over 8 inches ln width. Thc va'ue of this ore body was 82"..(ill un the surface, but at a depth of less than three Ieet it has Increased to$10.00. To tap this ore showing and the massive iron capped ledgo closo to which it lies the present tunnel was commenced and is now in adistaneo of 82 feot. Another 8,1 feot of erosscuttlug should roach tlils'lodga at a depth of about 125 foet. When 01 foet hart beon driven, an aliuost'solld body of Iron ore threo feot thick was encountered in tho tunnel lying against a'wall ot slate. A sample at tbis point assayed $77.(10 In gold, silver, copper and lead. The property has an excellent surface, showing. Thc average assays aro most encouraging, considering the groat width and con- tlnuanoy of the loads across the country with such groat width and prominenco of the surface judging frum other properties In tho near vicinity, some of which are on tbe samo load and have dovolopod very rich ore bodies. In conclusion I would say that the Lardoau Minos aro as good as any, if not tho best, in tho vicinity, and I verily believe with a nominal expenditure, they should be made dividend paying ln a hort liiue, and I would strongly rocommohj extensive development toward that ond.
