E.M.B.E.R. (Ecosystem, Maintenance, Burning, Evaluation & Research)

Description

Many forests in B.C. are what is called fire-dependent. After several decades of fire suppression, fire is being reintroduced to improve the overall health of these fire-dependent forest types. The use of prescribed fire is achieving greater recognition as a tool for managing forests, range and wildlife. Coping with its diverse forests and landscapes, B.C. has become a world leader in fire management and technology. Note: this program was rebroadcast as Program 5 in 1999 and Program 2 in 2004.
