Westland

John Cuthbert and the WestLand Panel

Description

Despite charges to the contrary, the B.C. Chief Forester says the B.C. allowable cut is right about where it should be.  He says the working forest is about 25 million hectares; that the growth rate is 3 cubic metres per ha. per year; which multiplies out to 75 million cubic metres and that is what the provincial cut has averaged for the last 10 years.  Cuthbert also says that unless the forest service is greatly expanded in size, more and more forest management will have to be done by the private sector.
