Peter Pearse and the WestLand Panel

Dr. Peter Pearse is a resource economist at UBC.  He has headed a Royal Commission into B.C.'s forests and other public inquiries into such things as fisheries, water export and inland fisheries.  He is an advocate of more private involvement in fish and wildlife management and says that with budgets subject to wide fluctuations, resource agencies cannot manage such resources well. He says "the worst way" to manage public resources is to have government do it.
